Material And Methods: The study includes 20 patients who underwent bilateral implant surgeries in the premolar-molar region of the mandible, followed by guided bone regeneration. Each patient received an implant in both locations, but rh-BMP2 was only on the right side.

Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), belonging to the transforming growth factor-β superfamily, regulate many cellular activities including cell migration, differentiation, adhesion, proliferation and apoptosis. Use of recombinant human bone morphogenic protein?2 (rhBMP?2) in oral and maxillofacial surgery has seen a tremendous increase.
