Purpose: To review the association of postoperative ocular alignment, sensory outcomes, and need for reoperation after surgical management of infantile exotropia.
Methods: The clinical records of patients who presented with constant infantile exotropia of >25 and subsequently underwent strabismus surgery at a single center from 2004 to 2014 were reviewed retrospectively. Postoperative binocular sensory status was assessed using Worth 4-Dot and Titmus stereoacuity tests.
Purpose: To evaluate changes in corneal topography and biomechanical properties after collagen cross-linking (CXL) for progressive keratoconus.
Patients And Methods: Collagen cross-linking was performed on 97 eyes. We assessed uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA).
Inheritance has an important role in the etiology of comitant strabismus. Consanguineous marriage is a leading factor in birth defects in which inheritance has a role. The aim of this study is to reveal if consanguineous marriage increases the risk of developing comitant strabismus.

Methods: In this retrospective, non-comparative, interventional case series, we reviewed the records of 77 patients less than 18 years of age who had undergone primary RD surgery at Khalili Hospital, Shiraz, Iran from 2005 to 2010. All patients had follow-up duration more than 12 months.
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of combined resection and anterior transposition of the inferior oblique muscle for treatment of unilateral superior oblique muscle palsy with hypertropia from 20(Δ) to 25(Δ) in primary position.
Methods: The medical records of consecutive patients operated on for unilateral superior oblique muscle palsy and hypertropia from 20(Δ) to 25(Δ) in primary position were retrospectively reviewed. All patients had overaction of the inferior oblique muscle.
Delayed wound healing in diabetes is a challenging medical and societal problem for which there is currently no efficacious treatment. One of the major contributors of this problem is nitric oxide (NO) deficiency. NO is a critical signalling molecule essential for normal wound repair.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAims: Stem cells are a new hope to ameliorate impaired diabetic wound healing. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) on wound healing in a diabetic rat model.
Methods: Twenty-six rats became diabetic by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin.
Objective: Impaired wound healing in diabetes is associated with decreased nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability in wound tissue. We hypothesized azelnidipine (AZL), a new calcium channel blocker with antioxidant properties, would enhance wound healing in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats by restoring NO synthesis.
Methods: Twelve male rats were taken as non-diabetic group.
Objective: To determine whether botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) exerts a lipolytic effect by interfering with acetylcholine transmission at the cholinergic parasympathetic nerve endings.
Study Design: Fifteen male rabbits were divided into 3 equal groups: 1 control group (A) and 2 case groups (B and C). The abdomens of all rabbits were divided into a 3 x 3-square grid.
Behçet's disease (BD) is a systemic vasculitis. We speculate that local or systemic administration of the pomegranate juice may be useful in the treatment of BD. Immunomodulatory, antioxidants and antibacterial characteristics of pomegranate juice may rationalize this hypothesis.
