Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) provides objective measurements of the impact of systemic oxygen (SO) desaturation, bradycardia, or both on cerebral regional oxygen saturation (rSO).
Objective: To characterize baseline cerebral rSO during a car seat trial in preterm infants ready for discharge.
Objective: To study the feasibility of lung ultrasound (LUS) in prone position and to compare it with supine position in neonates with respiratory distress.
Study Design: Neonates ≥ 29 weeks of gestational age with respiratory distress requiring respiratory support within first 12 hours of life were enrolled prospectively. First LUS (fLUS) was done in the position infant was nursed (supine or prone), infant's position changed, a second LUS (sLUS) was performed immediately and a third LUS (tLUS) was done 1 to 2 hours later.
Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) is an uncommon cause of high intestinal obstruction in neonates; it is owing to incomplete obstruction in the third part of the duodenum caused by compression between the SMA and abdominal aorta. In neonates, complete intestinal obstruction owing to SMAS has been very rarely reported in the literature .We present a 7-day-old previously healthy male infant with a short history of gastroenteritis and sepsis followed by progressive abdominal distension and persistent bilious vomiting that resulted in hypovolemic shock.

Methods: This contralateral study includes 46 eyes (23 patients) that underwent topography-guided corneal customized LASIK using the customized aspheric treatment zone (CATz) ablation profile in one eye and conventional LASIK using the NIDEK EC-5000 Advanced Vision Excimer laser system (NAVEX) in the other eye for myopia with or without astigmatism. Patients were masked to which eye underwent topography-guided CATz or conventional LASIK.
