Multi-targeted therapeutic exploration of Tamarix gallica flowers for anti-ulcer activity and associated complications.

Background: Peptic ulcer is a condition characterized by open sores resulting from excessive acid production in the stomach or digestive tract, causing damage to the mucosal lining. Tamarix gallica (TG), is traditionally known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial activity, etc. Objective: The scientific evidences based on its efficacy specifically for anti-ulcers activity are limited, hence, the study aimed to evaluate protective effect of TG against aspirin-induced peptic ulcers.

Social strain, distress, and gender dysphoria among transgender women and Hijra in Vadodara, India.

There is immense diversity among transgender people in India with respect to ethnicity, sub-culture, and gender expression. This study examines psychological distress, gender dysphoria, transgender congruence, and social strain among transgender women, and explores their reflections on self and community using a mixed-method approach. Gender dysphoria, psychological distress, and transgender congruence were assessed with standardized scales while the participants' reflections were captured using semi-structured interviews.

Role of pncA gene mutations W68R and W68G in pyrazinamide resistance.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) resistance toward anti-tuberculosis drugs is a widespread problem. Pyrazinamide (PZA) is a first line antitubercular drug that kills semi-dormant bacilli when converted into its activated form, that is, pyrazinoic acid (POA) by Pyrazinamidase (PZase) enzyme coded by pncA gene. In this study, we conducted several analyses on native and mutant structures (W68R, W68G) of PZase before and after docking with the PZA drug to explore the molecular mechanism behind PZA resistance caused due to pncA mutations.
