Post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) is a skin condition caused by the Leishmania donovani parasite, leading to cosmetic disfigurement and decreased quality of life for patients.
A study involving 92 PKDL patients and 96 healthy participants assessed quality of life using the Dermatology Life Quality Index and SF 36 questionnaire, revealing a significant negative impact on PKDL patients, particularly in younger individuals.
The findings highlight the serious effect of PKDL on patients' well-being, suggesting a need for further research on treatment outcomes and quality of life improvements.
