A combination of pathway enrichment and metabolite clustering analysis is used to interpret untargeted H NMR metabolomics data, enabling a biochemically informative comparison of the effects induced by a panel of known cytotoxic gold(I) and gold(III) compounds in A2780 ovarian cancer cells. The identification of the most dysregulated pathways for the major classes of compounds highlights specific chemical features that lead to common biological effects. The proposed approach may have broader applicability to the screening of metal-based drug candidate libraries, which is always complicated by their multitarget nature, and support the comprehensive interpretation of their metabolic actions.

Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

A series of new gold(I) and silver(I) N-heterocyclic carbenes bearing a 1-thio-β-d-glucose tetraacetate moiety was synthesized and chemically characterized. The compounds' stability and solubility in physiological conditions were investigated employing a multitechnique approach. Interaction studies with biologically relevant proteins, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and human serum albumin (HSA), were conducted via UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and high-resolution ESI mass spectrometry.

The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.

The ϒ(3S) meson is observed for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, with a significance above 5 standard deviations. The ratios of yields measured in Pb-Pb and pp collisions are reported for both the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons, as functions of transverse momentum and Pb-Pb collision centrality.

Lactate produced by the skeletal muscle during physical exercise is conducted to the liver, which uses the metabolite as a gluconeogenic precursor, thus generating the well-known "Cori cycle". Moreover, the presence of lactate in the mitochondria associated with the lactate oxidation complex has become increasingly clear over the years.

To enhance its anticancer activity, we prepared a bioconjugate with human apoferritin (HuHf) by attaching some AuTM moieties to surface protein residues. The reaction of apoferritin with excess AuTM yielded a single adduct, that was characterized by ESI MS and ICP-OES analysis, using three mutant ferritins and trypsinization experiments.

Identification of somatic gene alterations combined with clinical/histopathological evaluation of the tumour can help improve prognostication. We applied a simplified targeted-Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) panel to characterise the mutational profiles of ACCs, providing potentially relevant information for better patient management.

Purpose: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive tumor. ACC male patients under adjuvant mitotane therapy (AMT) frequently develop hypogonadism, however sexual function has never been assessed in this setting. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate in AMT treated ACC patients the changes in Luteinizing hormone (LH), Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), total testosterone (TT) and calculated free testosterone (cFT), the prevalence and type of hypogonadism and sexual function, the latter before and after androgen replacement therapy (ART).
