Article Synopsis
  • Group 3 medulloblastoma (MBGRP3) is a type of brain cancer that's linked to the MYC gene, which makes it harder for patients to recover.
  • Researchers are exploring ways to target MYC by studying how it affects certain chemical processes in cells.
  • The study found that blocking a specific enzyme related to the MYC pathway could help increase survival in mouse models, suggesting new ways to treat this serious form of cancer.

Background: Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor, with 5-year survival rates > 70%. Cranial radiotherapy (CRT) to the whole brain, with posterior fossa boost (PFB), underpins treatment for non-infants; however, radiotherapeutic insult to the normal brain has deleterious consequences to neurocognitive and physical functioning, and causes accelerated aging/frailty. Approaches to ameliorate radiotherapy-induced late-effects are lacking and a paucity of appropriate model systems hinders their development.

Assessment of carbon footprint of a crop is an important component of sustainable crop production, as it helps in framing effectual and viable crop management strategies to minimize ecosystem tampering. Thus, in present investigation carbon footprint of potato production system in different agro-climatic zones viz. undulating plain zone, central plain zone and western plain zone of North-west India were estimated, and compared with the recommended practices of these zones.

Article Synopsis
  • Targeted inhibition of WEE1 using adavosertib shows promise as a novel therapy for high-risk and relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), particularly in patients with TP53 mutations.
  • The study tested adavosertib's effects on 27 patient samples and found significant anti-leukemic activity, disrupting the S-phase of the cell cycle even without DNA-damaging agents.
  • Additionally, the combination of adavosertib with conventional chemotherapeutics, especially cytarabine, enhances the treatment's effectiveness, suggesting a viable strategy for improving outcomes in ALL patients.

Leukemia cells re-program their microenvironment to augment blast proliferation and enhance treatment resistance. Means of clinically targeting such niche-driven treatment resistance remain ambiguous. We develop human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-engineered niches to reveal druggable cancer-niche dependencies.

Background: Dental caries originate due to the localized dissolution of the hard tissues of teeth, mainly caused by acids, developed by the presence of microorganisms in the biofilm (dental plaque) on the surface of teeth causing "cavities". Commercially available liquid mouthwashes containing synthetic active ingredients possess limitations like teeth staining, higher alcoholic content, taste disturbances, xerostomia, and stability issues.

Objective: To make the solid preparation for oral hygiene (US6428770B1) in the form of herbal effervescent mouthwash tablet (CN106619318A, US8728446B2) using Azadirachta indica and Curcumin having antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiplaque, and anti-inflammatory activity.

The objective of the present study was to prepare the fast disintegrating tablet of Salbutamol Sulphate, Cetirizine Hydrochloride in combined tablet dosage form for respiratory disorders such as bronchitis, asthma, and coughing for pediatrics and geriatrics. The tablets were prepared by direct compression technique. Superdisintegrant such as Sodium Starch Glycolate was optimized as 4% on the basis of least disintegration time.

Recent developments in fast disintegrating tablets have brought convenience in dosing to pediatric and elderly patients who have trouble in swallowing tablets. The objective of the present study was to prepare the fast disintegrating tablet of Cetirizine Hydrochloride for allergic and respiratory disorders. As precision of dosing and patient's compliance become important prerequisite for a long-term treatment, there is a need to develop a formulation for this drug which overcomes problems such as difficulty in swallowing, inconvenience in administration while travelling, and patient's acceptability.
