Soluble Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor-Kappa B ligand (sRANKL) to Osteoprotegerin (OPG) ratio is chosen as a bone metabolism equation in many bone diseases characterized by bone resorption, such as post-menopausal osteoporosis and would be modified with folic acid supplementation. This study was done to compare the effects of high dose (5mg/day) and low dose (0.

This randomized clinical trial aimed at assessing the effect of low doses and high doses of folic acid on homocysteine (Hcy) levels, blood pressure, urea, creatinine and neonatal outcome. A randomized clinical trial was done at Alzahra Teaching Hospital, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences from April 2008 to March 2013.

CD34+ is a pan marker for human hematopoietic stem cells, including umbilical cord blood stem cell. In comparison to other sources, cord blood CD34+ cells proliferate more rapidly and produce large number of progeny cells.

Methods: To determine the psychosocial factors associated with PCOS in a case control study, 742 PCOS cases were compared to 798 women without PCOS for psychiatric disorders and social conditions.
Introduction: There are many ideas concerning the etiology and pathogenesis of preeclampsia including endothelial dysfunction, inflammation and angiogenesis. Elevated levels of total homocysteine (Hcy) and lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)] are risk factors for endothelial dysfunction. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of high dose folic acid (FA) on serum Hcy and Lp(a) concentrations with respect to methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphisms 677C→T during pregnancy.

In order to increase optimal debulking and reduce preoperative complications, neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by debulking surgery, and then chemotherapy again is introduced as substitute for primary surgery.

Study Design: A non-randomized single-blind clinical trial was conducted from December 2009 to January 2011 in a University Teaching Hospital affiliated with the School of Medicine, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Surgery was carried out on 40 patients, aged 18-35 years, with signs and symptoms of ovarian torsion.
Objective: To determine the association of the human papillomavirus (HPV) subtypes in the saliva of women and HPV-related genital lesions.
Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 104 women with documented genital HPV-related lesions and known HPV status were selected. These cases were examined for the HPV subtypes in their salivary specimens from July 2006 to August 2009 at the Gynecologic Clinics of Alzahra Teaching Hospital, Tabriz, Iran.

Objective: To investigate the effect of 2 medications; Diphereline and Cabergoline, on uterine leiomyoma growth, and its histologic, sonographic, and intra-operative changes.
Methods: In an effort to treat large uterine leiomyoma in symptomatic patients in the Gynecology Clinics of the Alzahra Teaching Hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz, Iran, from September 2007 to November 2008, 60 candidates randomized to receive Diphereline 3.75 mg, 4 times every 28 days (group I), and Cabergoline 0.
To determine the relationship between pelvic organ prolapse and spinal curvature changes, a cross-sectional study was done in Gynecologic and Obstetrics educational hospitals and clinics in North West of Iran. One hundred patients were classified as cases based on the presence of abnormality at the spinal curvature and 100 patients classified as controls with no abnormality. The POP-Q (pelvic organ prolapse quantitation) staging system was used for assessment of prolapse stage and a flexi-curve malleable rod for measurement of thoracic and lumbar length and width, respectively.

This investigation was designed to study the prevalence of the four most common high-risk HPVs in the archival tissues with precancerous and cancerous lesions from patients from northwestern Iran.
Methods: 133 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue specimens were tested for HPV DNA by using GP5+/6+-based general PCR and two type-specific PCRs.
Background: Sore nipples are common during lactation and remain the major reason for failing to establish successful breastfeeding. To formulate a peppermint gel and to evaluate its effect on the prevention of nipple crack associated with breast-feeding, a randomized double-blinded clinical trial comparing the above formulation with modified lanolin and a neutral ointment was carried out.
Material/methods: Two hundred and sixteen primiparous participants were assigned randomly to three groups.
Background: Nipple pain and damage in breastfeeding mothers are common causes of premature breastfeeding cessation. Peppermint water is popularly used for the prevention of nipple cracks in the North West of Iran. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of peppermint water in the prevention of nipple cracks during breastfeeding in comparison with the application of expressed breast milk (EBM).
