- Scientists studied how well stents work for heart patients who have problems in multiple blood vessels, especially in a key area called the left anterior descending artery.
- After 3 years, both groups of patients (those with stents and those who had surgery called bypass grafting) had similar chances of dying, having a stroke, or getting a heart attack.
- However, patients with stents needed to have more follow-up procedures to fix their hearts again compared to those who had bypass surgery.
