Metol (MTO), a commonly used photographic developer, has become an environmental pollutant due to its extensive use and subsequent release into water sources. The accumulation of MTO poses significant risks, including aquatic toxicity and potential bioaccumulation, leading to adverse effects on ecosystems. To address these environmental challenges, we developed a La₂NiO combined with graphene oxide (La₂NiO₄@GO) nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for the ultrasensitive detection of MTO.

Article Synopsis
  • Cervical cancer remains a major global health threat, being the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women, with over 604,000 cases reported in 2020.
  • Recent advancements in technology have allowed researchers to identify and propose several candidate genes that could aid in developing new therapeutic strategies for cervical cancer.
  • The study employed a novel analytical approach involving cross-correlations to prioritize key candidate genes and identified six genes (CDH2, PAIP1, BRAF, EPB41L3, OSMR, and RUNX1) as significant for tumor progression, emphasizing their potential for further experimental validation in cervical cancer research.

Context: Splenic B-cell lymphoma/leukemia with prominent nucleoli (SBLPN) aka hairy cell leukemia variant (HCL-v) is a rare B-cell chronic lymphoproliferative disorder. The main diagnostic challenge is to differentiate SBLPN from Classical hairy cell leukemia (HCL-c), as the former faces inferior responses to therapies and a poor prognosis.

Aims: The aim is to discuss the clinic-hematological and immunophenotyping findings of three cases of SBLPN.

Introduction: Medullary carcinoma (MTC) is a rare neuroendocrine thyroid neoplasm. The international medullary thyroid carcinoma grading scheme (IMTCGS), which has prognostic significance, has been introduced recently. The present study graded MTC cases using the IMTCGS and evaluated it in our study cohort.

Background: Hairy Cell Leukemia (HCL) is an uncommon, indolent lymphoproliferative disorder of mature B lymphoid cells, accounting for 2% of all lymphoid tumors. The present study evaluated the clinical-hematological profile of HCL patients diagnosed at a single tertiary care center over a 11-year period.

Methods: The retrospective observational study was done between October 2010 and September 2021.

In recent years, efforts have been made to reduce deforestation to conserve the ecosystem. In the current scenario, agro-cultivated products are used instead of wood for engineering applications. Thus, natural lignocellulosic fibres are used as a reinforcing material and have been extremely attractive to industries and the scientific community during the past few decades.

It is well known that cervical cancer poses the fourth most malignancy threat to women worldwide among all cancer types. There is a tremendous improvement in realizing the underlying molecular associations in cervical cancer. Several studies reported pieces of evidence for the involvement of various genes in the disease progression.

We characterized the multifractality and power-law cross-correlation of mitochondrial genomes of various species through the recently developed method which combines the chaos game representation theory and 2D-multifractal detrended cross-correlation analysis. In the present paper, we analyzed 32 mitochondrial genomes of different species and the obtained results show that all the analyzed data exhibit multifractal nature and power-law cross-correlation behaviour. Further, we performed a cluster analysis from the calculated scaling exponents to identify the class affiliation and its outcome is represented as a dendrogram.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) or insulin-dependent diabetes is an autoimmune disease that may pose life-threatening situations to individuals. In most cases, cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) promotes killing of islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, which harbour insulin-producing beta cells. The trigger for autoimmune attack is still unclear; therefore, identifying and targeting candidate genes are imperative to hinder its deleterious effects.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the role of the PAP90 regulatory protein in the Photosystem II (PSII) complex of rice, aiming to improve photosynthesis efficiency.
  • The researchers created a mutant rice strain lacking PAP90, which revealed that without this protein, photosynthesis declined due to instability of the D1 protein and reduced PSII functionality.
  • The findings suggest that PAP90 is vital for D1 protein stability, which is crucial for PSII assembly and overall plant stress tolerance, particularly under water-limited conditions.

Aim: The current work aims to calculate dose area product (DAP) and to determine regional diagnostic reference level (DRL) for pediatric panoramic radiography in Tamil Nadu.

Materials And Methods: In this study, DAP was calculated after finding the product of air kerma on the detector side of scanner with the corresponding exposed area. The obtained DAP values were further analyzed, and DRL was calculated using Microsoft Excel.

The objective of this work is to explore the natural cellulosic fibers extracted from Nendran Banana Peduncle plants. This is the first time, the tests are carried out in the Nendran Banana Peduncle Fiber (NBPF) to measure the properties of the chemical, physical, mechanical, thermal (TGA/DTG), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier-transform Infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) analysis and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) furnished in this work. The Weibull distribution analysis was adopted for the analysis of diameter, tensile strength and Young's modulus of the fiber.

Introduction: Success or failure of dental implants depends on the amount of stress transferred to the surrounding bone. Increased amount of loading to the bone through implant cause failure, whereas decrease in the amount of loading to the bone causes improved success rate of implants. Biomechanical interaction between implant and bone decides the long-term function or prognosis of dental implant system.
