We study the influence of tyrosine phosphorylation on PTP-PEST, a cytosolic protein tyrosine phosphatase. Utilizing a combination of experimental data and computational modeling, specific tyrosine sites, notably, Y64 and Y88, are identified for potential phosphorylation. Phosphorylation at these sites affects loop dynamics near the catalytic site, altering interactions among key residues and modifying the size of the binding pocket.

The presence of chromium [Cr(VI)] and lead [Pb(II)] ions in the water bodies have adverse effects on humans and aquatic life. Graphene oxide-based magnetic nanocomposites synthesized in the presence of chitosan (mGO/CS) or polyaniline (mGO/PA) as potential adsorbents for the removal of Cr(VI) and Pb(II) ions. Rice blast caused by Pyricularia oryzae is one of most devastating fungal diseases in rice, reducing the annual yield of rice worldwide. As an alternative to fungicide for curbing rice blast, synthesis of nickel-chitosan nanoparticles (Ni-Ch NPs) was performed with nickel chloride and assessed its efficacy in inflating plant growth and hindrance of Pyricularia oryzae (blast pathogen). In this study, paper mill wastewater and hemicellulose hydrolysate were evaluated as low-cost substrates for fungal chitosan production using . Submerged fermentation was first studied using a bioreactor operated under batch, fed-batch and continuous modes with paper mill wastewater as the substrate. Very high removal (91%) of organics as chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the wastewater with 160 mg L chitosan production by was obtained using the bioreactor operated under fed-batch mode for 72 h.
