Introduction: In the literature, results after surgical treatment of non-colorectal non-neuroendocrine liver metastases (NCNNLM) are reported that are often inferior to those from colorectal liver metastases. The selection of patients with favorable tumor biology is currently still a matter of discussion.
Materials/methods: The retrospective data analysis was based on data that were collected for the multicenter study "Role of surgical treatment for non-colorectal liver metastases" in county Thuringia.
Peer assessment is an integral component of team-based learning (TBL) and provides a method to foster accountability and team performance. Traditionally, peer assessment in TBL contributes to the final course grade. We assessed the impact of replacing course grading with student's faculty coach review.

Short-term results show that SG is a feasible, safe, and effective operation treating obesity and its related co-morbidities. Now, the main focus is on long-term data after SG.

Short-term surgical and long-term metabolic complications - such as nutrient deficiencies - are the main risks of metabolic surgery and the resulting malabsorption. Obesity, especially morbid obesity, is associated with a high incidence of female infertility.

Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is increasingly used worldwide but is still used with skepticism in the elderly. The purpose of our analysis is to judge the security of LSG in patients older than 60 years compared to patients younger than 60 years.

Short-term surgical and long-term metabolic complications such as nutrient deficiencies can be considered as the main risks of metabolic surgery with its malabsorptive but also restrictive procedures. The aim of this review was to characterize the most relevant metabolic complications specific for the various bariatric procedures, which, subsequently, require a permanent surveillance and supplementation, respectively.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there are factors that increase the risk for a leakage. Furthermore, we aimed to analyze the impact of a leak on weight change and resolution of comorbidities.

Using antithrombotic prophylaxis, weight adjusted the risk of VTE and its complications have to be balanced with the increased bleeding risk.
Methods: Since 2005, the current situation for bariatric surgery has been examined by quality assurance study in Germany.
Background: Increasing experience with minimally invasive surgery and the development of new instruments has resulted in a tendency toward reducing the number of abdominal skin incisions. Retrospective and randomized prospective studies could show the feasibility of single-incision surgery without any increased risk to the patient. However, large prospective multicenter observational datasets do not currently exist.

All data were registered prospectively in cooperation with the Institute of Quality Assurance in Surgery at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg.
Methods: Data collection began in 2005 for all bariatric procedures in an online database.
Increasing prevalence of morbid obesity in Germany is associated with an increasing number of bariatric surgical interventions.Based on the effectiveness of bariatric surgery with regard to a significant reduction of body weight and comorbidity as well as improvement of the quality of life compared with conservative measures, its value and impact has been substantially increased. Long-term metabolic deficits such as nutrient deficiencies can be considered the main risks of various restrictive, combined and malabsorptive procedures of bariatric surgery.

The data were acquired and analysed in cooperation with the Institute for Quality Assurance in Surgical Medicine at the Otto-von-Guericke University.
Methods: Data acquisition was done with the help of an online database.
Background: Since January 1 2005, the outcomes of bariatric surgeries have been recorded in Germany. All data are registered prospectively in cooperation with the Institute of Quality Assurance in Surgery at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg.
Methods: Data are collected in an online data bank.
Background: Bariatric surgery outcomes have been examined in Germany since January 1, 2005. All data were registered prospectively in cooperation with the Institute of Quality Assurance in Surgery at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg.
Methods: The data were collected from an online data bank.
Background: The epidemic growth of morbid obesity has led to an increase in the number of bariatric interventions. During the distribution process of bariatric surgical interventions, the risk for severe nutritious complications such as bariatric beriberi can rise.
Methods: By means of systematic literature review, epidemiological data, clinical characteristics and diagnostic as well as therapeutic recommendations for bariatric beriberi were elicited.
Background: Increasing numbers of interventions for obesity and metabolic surgery have led to an increase of primary bariatric operations as well as redo operations and revisional surgery after various primary bariatric procedures. Evidence-based guidelines for indications and choice of procedure for revisional surgery do not currently exist.
Aim: The spectrum of various revisional and redo operations following standard operative procedures for obesity and metabolic surgery is presented based on current data from the German bariatric surgery registry (GBSR, German nationwide survey on quality assurance in bariatric surgery) and a literature search.
Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is currently being performed with increasing frequency worldwide. It offers an excellent weight loss and resolution of comorbidities in the short term with a very low incidence of complications. However, the ever present risk of a staple line leak is still a major concern.

This observational study examined family concordance and gender differences in early parent-child interaction in the family supportive sociopolitical context of Norway. Mothers and fathers from 39 Norwegian families were observed on separate occasions with their 12-month-old children (20 girls and 19 boys). Data were recorded from observations using microsocial coding methodology based on social interaction learning theory.
