Validation of the Basic Empathy Scale in an Arabic-speaking population: The BES-Ar.

Purpose: The aim of this work was to test the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the BES (Basic Empathy Scale) by establishing its factor structure, its internal consistency and construct validity in the general population.

Design And Methods: The BES was tested among 526 Tunisian adults.

Findings: The two-factor structure of the BES-20 was confirmed.
