Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) of the gynecological tract are a rare, heterogenous and aggressive group of neoplasms, with high recurrence rates and poor prognosis. In this review we focus on NENs of the gynecological system emphasizing the classification, epidemiological and clinical characteristics of NENs across the gynecological tract (cervix, endometrium, ovary, vagina, and vulva), risk/prognostic factors, pathology and molecular biology (including actionable genomic mutations), imaging, staging and the most effective treatment modalities in the "standard of care" approach as well as the pipeline products. We also focused on metastatic spreading patterns of gynecological NENs.

We analyzed cervical cancer epidemiology in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska) from January 2016 to December 2020, exploring the role of available sociodemographic factors and healthcare service parameters on incidence and mortality rates, using an ecological approach based on aggregated data. : Incidence and mortality rates are standardized using the method of direct standardization with the World-ASR-W.

The cervical cancer mortality rate in Serbia is one of the highest among European countries, and this cancer is the second-leading cause of death in Serbian women aged from 15 to 44. : This retrospective study was conducted at the Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina.

The worldwide rise in obesity rates is significantly impacting both cancer development and treatment outcomes. Adipose tissue plays a crucial role in metabolism, secreting various substances that can influence cancer formation.

Materials And Methods: The study included 45 female patients with newly diagnosed advanced cervical cancer who underwent concomitant chemoradiotherapy. The blood and urine samples were collected prior to treatment, between December 2013 and April 2016, and subsequent laboratory analysis was performed.
Objective: The present study purposed to determine characteristics of ovarian carcinoma and to analyze predictors of survival in patients with ovarian carcinoma.
Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted including the patients with diagnosed ovarian carcinoma treated at the Clinic for Operative Oncology, Oncology Institute of Vojvodina in the period from January 2012 to December 2016. Seventy-two women with ovarian carcinoma were included in the analysis.
Programmed Cell Death-1 (PCD-1) is a key immune checkpoint receptor, which mainly expresses on activated T, B, Dendritic (DC), Natural Killer (NK), and Treg cells. On the surface of activated T-cells, PCD-1 expression is upregulated after the recognition of peripherals antigens by T cells; subsequently, the elevated binding of PD-1 to Programmed Death Ligand-1 (PD-L1) and Programmed Death Ligand-2 (PD-L2) becomes a key step for downstream inhibitory signaling. Although the role of PD-L1 has been evaluated more thoroughly by clinical research, and PD-L1 has also been used more widely in the clinical setting, PD-L2 also plays an important role in the negative regulation of T-cells, one of the necessary conditions that lead to immune tolerance.

The expression of the E6 and E7 HPV oncogenes is considered as a promising biomarker in diagnosing high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). This study aimed to evaluate HPV mRNA and DNA tests, compare the results according to the severity of the lesions, and assess the predictive potential for the diagnosis of HSIL.

Several prognostic factors have been shown to correlate with lymph node metastasis, including depth of myometrial invasion, cervical infiltration, histologic grade of the tumor, tumor diameter, histology type, lymphovascular invasion, and positive peritoneal cytology.

The aim of our study was to determine the significance of peritoneal cytology in EC and its association with other histological and clinical parameters.
Methods: This is a retrospective study that comprises of results from 357 patients with EC that were operated in our center in the previous nine years.
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) can damage lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins, thereby altering their functions. When a balance between production of ROS and antioxidative defense is disturbed, state of oxidative stress occurs. Oxidative stress leads to many diseases.

Our aim was to examine lipid peroxidation and the extent of oxidative stress in women diagnosed with different stages of cervical cancer in order to evaluate its potential role in the evolution of cancer.

The aim of the study was to compare thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA) and intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (IV-PCA) after open colorectal cancer surgery. This prospective study included sixty patients scheduled for elective open colorectal surgery and randomized to either postoperative IV-PCA with morphine (n=30) or TEA with a mixture of levobupivacaine, fentanyl and adrenaline (n=30). Th e primary outcome was return of bowel function.

The aim of the study was to determine the expression level of COX-2 in patients with cervical cancer and compare it with that in the control group with no cervical pathology.
Methods: The study included 76 patients divided into two groups: the control group--30 patients without histopathological changes and the group A--46 patients with cervical cancer, FIGO stage IB-IIA.
Purpose: To examine the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the cervical tissue of individuals divided into the control group (normal cervix), group A (HSIL lesions), and group B (cervical cancer, FIGO stage I-IIA). Analyzed was also the expression of VEGF between groups and subgroups in group A and B. The expression of VEGF was also compared with histopathological parameters in group B.

Introduction: A definitive diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) is confirmed after histopathological (HP) examination of the tissue obtained through the biopsy. The aim of this study was to compare histopathological results obtained with punch biopsy and results obtained through one of the excisional techniques.
Material And Methods: We analysed histology results of 130 patients referred to our institution with abnormal smear.
Introduction: Sentinel node biopsy in breast cancer has been a standard procedure at the Institute for Oncology of Vojvodina since 1999 and we have done more than 700 biopsy. Before the introduction of axillary sentinel lymph node biopsy, lymph nodes were routinely dissected, and this approach was the gold standard in surgical treatment of breast cancer. The study was aimed at presenting our results in performing sentinel node biopsy in clinical practice for operative treatment in breast cancer.
