Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of 19-gauge (G) and 22-G needles in diagnosing sarcoidosis using endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA).
  • Both needles did not show a significant difference in diagnostic sensitivity, with 75.0% for the 19-G compared to 69.6% for the 22-G.
  • The 19-G needle made puncturing the lymph nodes more difficult, while both groups had similar sample adequacy and safety profiles, with the only complication being transient hypoxemia.

There is a significant increase in the literature on learning resources in Higher Education (HE) but very limited evidence of studies that have taken a global overview of the context, range, and emerging trends from the previous research. This study aims to conduct a Scientometric analysis of research articles to accommodate a global overview and research trends under the theme of learning resources in HE. 4489 scientific articles were obtained as the dataset from the Web Of Science database between 1970 and 2022.

Background: Whether off-site evaluation of slides by a cytologist viewing the images shared by WhatsApp improves the on-site evaluation by a pulmonologist (P-ROSE) remains unknown. This study's objective was to compare the sensitivity of P-ROSE and WHOSE for adequacy and diagnosis of cytology specimens obtained by endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA).

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our bronchoscopy database to identify subjects who underwent EBUS-TBNA for lymph node sampling and had reports of P-ROSE and WHOSE.

Aim: The aim of present research was to complex aceclofenac with lysine (LYS) and the developed aceclofenac-LYS cocrystal was encapsulated in lipid bilayers of liposomes by employing dual carrier approach for the treatment of pain-related disorders in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Materials & Methods: The developed carriers were characterized for particle size, drug release, ex vivo and in vivo studies, dermatokinetic modeling, complete freund's adjuvant (CFA)-induced RA rat model, radiant heat tail-flick method, formalin-induced paw-licking model, paw edema model and xylene-induced ear edema model in mice.

Results: The developed nanoliposomes offered nanometric size, controlled drug release and enhanced drug permeation.

Objective: To identify the prevalence of autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) in Asian Indian patients with vitiligo and to compare the clinical profile between thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibody-positive and TPO antibody-negative groups.

Methods: In this cross-sectional, case-controlled study, 50 patients with vitiligo (29 women and 21 men) were included. Patients with previous disorders, irradiation, or surgical procedures involving the thyroid were excluded from the study.

We present a case of possible olanzapine-induced rhabdomyolysis in the absence of other features of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). There is evidence to suggest that there are different underlying pathophysiological mechanisms for rhabdomyolysis occurring alone, in contrast to when it presents as part of NMS. This has possible implications for drug rechallenge which is discussed.

Sonographic study of 164 patients (328 eyes) in the present series highlights the advantages of ocular ultra sonography (B-mode) in the evaluation of retinal disorders especially in patients with opaque ocular media. B-mode sonography of the eye is a rapid, cheap, safe and reliable investigation for the eye. The sensitivity and specificity of this modality in detecting ocular pathologies has been recorded as extremely high and is of great value to the eye surgeon for a preoperative assessment of the posterior segment when fundoscopy is not possible due to opaque ocular media from various causes.

Gadolinium enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for the evaluation of the post operative lumbo-sacral spine is a sensitive and specific imaging technique. A need for establishing a specific protocol for Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) for use in the service hospitals is highlighted for convenience of patient management and preservation of active manpower. The MR scan of 50 patients performed over a span of six months, who complained of persistent low backache even after surgery, were retrospectively analysed.
