Background: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as "apical ballooning syndrome", is generally precipitated by endogenous or exogenous stress. Eating disorders are associated with a variety of physical complications.
Case Presentation: We present a case involving a 37-year-old Japanese female with anorexia nervosa.
Purpose: The cardio-ankle vascular index, applying the stiffness parameter β theory, was calculated using the pulse-wave velocity and blood pressure from the aortic orifice to the ankle. Accordingly, the impact of the stiffness of the aorta [heart-thigh β (htBETA)] and medium-sized muscular artery [thigh-ankle β (taBETA)] on the stiffness of the heart-ankle β (haBETA) was investigated; further, whether the htBETA (haBETA - taBETA) improved the power of diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD) was examined.
Materials And Methods: Segmental βs were calculated using VaSela with an additional thigh cuff and compared using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis to evaluate CAD.
Background: Use of the everolimus-eluting stent (EES) instead of the sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) has been shown to improve clinical outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) out to 3 years. However, it is not known whether the differences in efficacy and safety outcomes remain constant throughout 5 years.
Methods: This was a retrospective, non-randomized, observational study.
Background/aims: Myelosuppression is a serious adverse effect of chemotherapy, but its risk factors remain largely unknown. The present study retrospectively evaluated clinical data obtained before therapy to clarify the risk factors for myelosuppression after chemoradiotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer.
Methodology: One-hundred-and-eight patients who received 5-fluorouracil combined with platinum and 60Gy radiation for esophageal cancer were analyzed.
