Chronic venous ulcer (CVU) is a major cause of chronic wounds of lower extremities and presents a significant financial and resource burden to health care systems worldwide. Defects in the vasculature, matrix deposition, and re-epithelialization are the main histopathological changes believed to impede healing. Supplementation of the amino acid arginine that plays a crucial role in the interactions that occur during inflammation and wound healing was proven clinically to improve acute wound healing probably through enhancing activity of inducible arginase (AI) locally in the wounds.

Cisplatin (CP) and doxorubicin (DX) can cause testicular injury by inducing oxidative/nitrosative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis, Naringenin (NG) has antioxidant, antinitrative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic effects. This study investigated the potential ability of NG to block gonadotoxicity induced CP and DX in male rats. The rats received one injection of either CP (10 mg/kg, i.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of eugenol for treating Candida keratitis using an experimental rabbit model comparing it to fluconazole.
  • - Rabbits were divided into three groups: a control group with no treatment and two groups treated with eugenol either immediately or after four days, administering 50 μL of eugenol drops hourly for 15 days.
  • - Results showed that eugenol demonstrated a minimum inhibitory concentration against Candida, was safe for rabbit corneas, and at least 75% of treated eyes recovered from keratitis, indicating its potential as a natural antifungal treatment.

Background: Integrin Linked Kinase (ILK), Snail and Multidrug Resistance Protein 1 (MRP1) have been implicated in several cancers; however, their roles in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain to be elucidated.

Aim: Investigation of their expression in NSCLC tissue. Relationships among these proteins and their association with clinicopathological parameters were studied.

High fructose consumption is currently linked to metabolic disorders including insulin resistance and dyslipidemia as well as hepatic steatosis. Dimethyl dimethoxy biphenyl dicarboxylate (DDB) is a hepatoprotectant with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this study therefore is to evaluate the effect of DDB on high fructose-induced metabolic disturbances and hepatic steatosis in a rat model.

Purpose: To explore the possible intermediary pathways through which diabetes mellitus (DM) adversely worsens hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), focusing on cell life controllers as some transcription factors and inflammatory mediators.

Material And Methods: Forty male albino rats were divided into four groups, control, cancer [given single intra-peritoneal (IP) dose of diethyl nitrosamine, NDEA, 125 mg/kg body weight], diabetic (given single dose of streptozotocin, STZ, 65 mg/kg) and cancer diabetic. HCC was initiated with NDEA, 3 weeks later, DM was induced with STZ.

Ginger is known to possess hypolipidemic, antioxidant and hepatoprotective properties. Combination therapy often takes advantage of complementary effects of different agents. This study investigated the combined effect of ginger extract (GE) and atorvastatin on lipid profile and on atorvastatin-induced hepatic injury.
