This study examined the effect of a low-carbohydrate diet (LCD) and a low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet (LCKD) on diabetic retinopathy in high-fat diet-induced diabetes mellitus in rats and studied the mechanisms of action. Rats were divided into four groups: the Control group, which was fed a normal diet for 16 weeks; the HFD group, which was fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for the first 8 weeks and then switched to a normal diet for 8 weeks; the HFD+LCD group, fed a HFD for 8 weeks followed by an LCD for 8 weeks, and the HFD+LCKD group, which was fed a HFD for 8 weeks followed by an LCKD for 8 more weeks. Both the LCD and the LCKD effectively reduced the final body and total fat weights and decreased fasting serum levels of glucose, insulin, hemoglobin A1 (HbA1C), triglycerides, cholesterol, and LDL-c.

Carbendazim (CBZ) insecticides have been widely employed, raising serious concerns about their impacts on human health and the environment. A facile hydrothermal technique was used to prepare a zinc ferrite (ZnFe₂O₄) combined with porous graphene oxide (PGO) as a nanocomposite for selective CBZ detection. The ZnFe₂O₄/PGO nanocomposite was then used to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE), an affordable platform for CBZ detection.

Chilli peppers are widely consumed for their pungency, as used in flavoring the food and has many pharmaceutical and medicinal properties. Based on these properties an experiment was held using 83 varieties of chilli (Hot pepper and sweet pepper) were grown in suitable environment using Augment Block design and evaluated for fruit pungency and phytochemical contents using high proficiency liquid chromatography. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) of traits showed highly significant for all traits except for fruit length and capsaicin contents.

This cross-sectional study examines the influence of long-term gluten-free diet (GFD) consumption on nutritional status, body composition, and associated factors in adult Saudi females with celiac diseases (CD). Fifty-one patients who have been diagnosed with CD and have been on GFD for more than 1 year were included in this study where data regarding their dietary pattern, as well as a complete analysis of their anthropometric parameters, vitamins B12 and D levels, and complete blood count (CBC), were collected. Metabolites of proper fatty acids modulate the inflammatory response and are essential for normal brain development; equally, abnormal fatty acid metabolism plays a critical role in the pathology of autism. Currently, dietary supplements are often used to improve the core symptoms of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The present study analyzed the effects of orally supplemented omega-3 (ω-3) and vitamin B12 on ameliorating oxidative stress and impaired lipid metabolism in a propionic acid (PPA)-induced rodent model of autism, together with their effect on the gut microbial composition, where great fluctuations in the bacterial number and strains were observed; interestingly, polyunsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3 induced higher growth of the gram-positive bacterium Staphylococcus aureus and decreased the survival rates of Clostridia sp.
