Symptom Burden and Quality of Life Among Patients With Heart Failure.

Introduction: Heart failure is a debilitating condition that is associated with several burdensome symptoms that impede patients' quality of life. However, patients' experience of distressing symptoms and their impacts on their quality of life is not studied in Jordan.

Objectives: To assess the severity of distressing symptoms and to assess the relationships between these symptoms and the quality of life among patients with heart failure in Jordan.

Prevalence of Suspected Cases of Hyperthyroidism in Jeddah by Using Wayne's Scoring Index.

Introduction Hyperthyroidism is one of the primary dysfunctional thyroid diseases that results from abnormally high thyroid hormone secretion. It leads to metabolic derangement that manifests as heightened vital functions and metabolism and hyperdynamic blood circulation. Hyperthyroidism jeopardizes one's quality of life and hampers the patient's job performance.

Effect of educational program on self-care behaviors and health outcome among patients with heart failure: an experimental study.

Objectives: To implement an educational program for patients with heart failure and to assess its effectiveness on self-care behaviors and health outcomes (frequency of hospitalizations, emergency department visits, and deaths).

Methods: A comparative-experimental design was used. A total of 144 participants were randomized into the intervention group (who received individualized education session, self-care manual, and weekly phone calls) and the control group (who received usual care).

Predictors of ICU patients' pain management satisfaction: A descriptive cross-sectional survey.

Purpose: (1) To assess Jordanian ICU patients' pain characteristics (intensity and interference) and levels of pain management satisfaction; and (2) to determine potential predictors of pain management satisfaction among ICU patients.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was utilised using the American Pain Society-Patient Outcome Questionnaire to survey 139 Jordanian ICU patients from different health care sectors in Jordan.

Results: High levels of pain and pain interferences were reported by participants, which were higher than those reported by previous studies in other countries.

Pain among mechanically ventilated patients in critical care units.

Background: Pain is a common experience among mechanically ventilated patients. Pain among mechanically ventilated patients is aggravated by factors such as stage of illness, invasive procedures, and surgical interventions. The aim to this study was to investigate pain levels and predictors among mechanically ventilated patients during rest and routine nursing interventions.

Jordanian patients' satisfaction with pain management.

Pain is still undertreated among hospitalized patients. Recently, patient satisfaction with pain management has received significant attention. This field has not yet been explored among Jordanian patients.

Investigating Jordanian nurses' handwashing beliefs, attitudes, and compliance.

Background: Low rates of handwashing compliance among nurses are still reported in literature. Handwashing beliefs and attitudes were found to correlate and predict handwashing practices. However, such an important field is not fully explored in Jordan.
