A common upper airway and digestive tract is a rare congenital anomaly that is usually fatal and its exact incidence is not known. It is a diagnostic challenge as it requires high index of suspicion. It should be considered in a neonate with respiratory distress in a non-vigorous baby requiring endotracheal intubation, which is difficult even in expert hand.

Uncommon content in congenial inguinal hernia.

Although sliding indirect inguinal hernias containing the ipsilateral ovary and fallopian tube are not uncommon in infant girls, sliding hernias containing uterus with both ovaries and fallopian tubes are extremely rare. At surgery, a 5-month-old infant girl was found to have an indirect hernia in which the uterus and fallopian tubes were sliding components with a wide deep inguinal ring.

Background: Better exposure, possibility of extension if needed and precise placement of the anal canal within the external sphincter complex have made the posterior and anterior sagittal approaches more popular and established for the correction of anovestibular fistula. The mini posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP) was the procedure of choice for female ARM at our center till date. As an alternative surgical option, we performed anterior sagittal anorectoplasty (ASARP) in 15 cases of anovestibular fistula and compared them with 12 cases of vestibular fistula operated by PSARP technique.

Background: To compare the efficacy of intralesional bleomycin and sodium tetradecyl sulphate in treatment of haemangiomas and lymphangiomas.

Patients And Methods: Between July 2007 and May 2009, 120 patients, sixty each of peripheral haemangiomas and lymphangiomas, were administered intralesional injection of bleomycin in a dose of 0.5-1 U/kg in children less than one year of age and 1 to 15 units in children more than one year of age and 1 to 3 ml of 2% sodium tetradecyl sulphate, depending on the size of the lesion at intervals of 14 days.

We report eventration of the right hemidiaphragm with isolated asymptomatic dextrogastria in a newborn. The diagnosis of this rare association could not be made clinically or by various imaging techniques. The final diagnosis could only be ascertained at laparotomy.

In this article we have outlined a post exposure prophylaxis protocol following HIV exposure in HCWs. By determining the HIV status code of the source and the HIV exposure code of the HCWs, recommendations for PEP are forwarded.

Clinical presentation and management modalities for 585 patients of esophageal atresia and/or tracheo-esophageal fistula reporting to Department of Paediatric Surgery, SMS Medical College, Jaipur over twenty five years (1972-1996) were analyzed in five phases of five years each retrospectively. Over the period of observation, the incidence of new cases as well the number of associated anomalies have shown a steady increase due to availability of modern diagnostic facilities. The operative mortality has shown a progressive decline from 95% early in the series to 40% in last few years.

Skull fractures are unsuspected on clinical grounds hence require X-ray and hospital admission. CT scan of head should be the first line of investigation in cases of head injuries. However, where CT facilities are not available, we still recommend X-ray skull because we found a significant correlation between fracture skull and underlying intracranial lesion.
