Article Synopsis
  • Rectal varices are abnormal blood vessels associated with portal hypertension that can lead to sudden gastrointestinal bleeding, and they can be treated through endoscopic variceal ligation, a minimally invasive procedure.
  • A case study of a 76-year-old man with bloody stools revealed a neoplastic lesion near rectal varices, which required careful management to control bleeding during treatment.
  • After endoscopic ligation was performed, the lesion was successfully removed, and the patient experienced a full recovery with no postoperative complications, showcasing the effectiveness of this combined treatment approach.

Contact hypersensitivity (CHS) is thought to be associated mainly with the activation of T helper (Th) type 1 cells. However, evidence also suggests that Th type 2 cells (Th2) and cytokines play roles in the development of CHS in humans. The present study examines the Th2 response during the development of CHS in response to 2,4,6-trinitrochlorobenzene (TNCB) in GATA-3-transgenic (GATA-3 Tg) mice.
