[X-ray differential diagnosis of focal tuberculosis and peripheral lung cancer].

The paper deals with the differential diagnosis of focal tuberculosis and peripheral lung cancer. It presents data on 25 patients of whom 24 were misdiagnosed as having focal tuberculosis. The main reason for misdiagnoses was the similarity of early X-ray symptoms of the two diseases, namely, upper lobar site, increased and thickened lung pattern and focal shadows against this background.

[An automated method of measuring the area of contrasted bronchi].

An automated method for measuring the area of the contrasted bronchi is described. The method involves two research stages. The first one consists of routine bronchography provided to patients suffering from pulmonary diseases according to indications.

[A method of digital processing of bronchograms].

Digital bronchogram processing is described as a new method in roentgenology. The aim of this method is to improve the visibility of the single morphological detail inside the bronchi lumens and to make the image of the contrast bronchi more easily and clearly seen. It will ease the procedure of measuring the diameters of the respiratory ways and will help to get more accurate datum of bronchi lumens in cases with chronic bronchitis.

[X-ray diagnosis of disturbed bronchial permeability in chronic bronchitis].

The authors presented clinical and x-ray findings of combined investigation of 94 patients with chronic bronchitis. X-ray symptoms of disturbed bronchial permeability (DBP) in this pathology were studied. Bronchograms, bronchosonograms performed in different phases of respiration using broncholytic drugs, video tape recording, coherent-optic processing of bronchograms, and a method of digital processing of bronchograms proposed by the authors were employed.

[The x-ray diagnosis of the functional disorder of bronchial patency in chronic bronchitis].

The aim of the study was to investigate functional impairments of bronchial patency in chronic bronchitis. Various up-to-date roentgenological procedures were used. Data on complex clinicoroentgenological examination of 94 patients with chronic bronchitis are presented.

[Method of coherent optical processing of bronchograms].

The problem of space filtration of bronchi images is solved by using as a model a tube filled with a contrast substance. The effects of bronchi wall lesions on the images after filtering are analysed. Some results of bronchogram processing using a hybrid optoelectronic device are presented.

[Importance of roentgenobronchological studies in patients with chronic pneumonia].

A study was made of the role of bronchography and bronchozonography in the diagnosis of bronchial patency impairment in patients with chronic pneumonia. 144 patients were subjected to a comprehensive x-ray examination. The x-ray signs were divided into 3 groups: Group I included the signs of bronchiostenosis, Group II those of dilatation, and Group III included combined stenosis and dilatation.

[Technique and methods of bronchoholography].

A new roentgenological technique of a bronchial tree examination--bronchoholography has been described. To receive holographic image of a contrast bronchial tree the authors introduced changes and additions in usual bronchography technique: a contrast bronchial tree has been recorded on a video tape of a tape recorder at the moment of deep inspiration, the patient was rotating around its vertical axis at that time. Then bronchial tree videogram has been transferred on a cine film.
