A 34-year-old male patient with nonobstructive azoospermia and childlessness for more than 2 years is presented. As even severely damaged testes often harbour cryptic areas with remaining spermatogenesis, such cases might be suitable for spermatid extraction from bilateral testicular biopsies. Taking into account that testicular biopsies bear the risk of permanent testosterone insufficiency, less invasive andrological treatment modalities were considered.

To minimize potential risks associated with viral gene transfer, we developed a liposome-based gene transfer approach employing inducible NOS (iNOS) overexpression for inhibition of stent-induced neointimal lesion formation. Therapeutic lipoplexes were transferred to femoral or coronary arteries of Goettingen minipigs, using the Infiltrator local drug delivery device.

Therefore we conducted a prospective study in order to evaluate both methods as compared to digital subtraction angiography (DSA).
Patients/methods: Thirtysix consecutive patients (53,9 +/- 13,7 years) with suspected RAS were investigated.

Background: In recent years a previously unrecognized pain syndrome of the distal lower limbs after organ transplantation has been noted. A relationship to cyclosporin A was suspected, but no clear aetiology and pathogenesis have been established.
Methods: During the last 30 months we diagnosed the pain syndrome in 10 patients after renal transplantation.
Assessment of intrarenal doppler signals is of particular importance in screening for renal artery stenosis. We studied the effect of acute ACE-inhibition (1,25 mg enalaprilate i.v.

In most cases hepatobiliary cystadenomas or -carcinomas cannot be definitely differentiated by sonography and CT from other cystic lesions in the liver. Resection of the tumorous parts of the liver as early as possible is essential for the prognosis for the patients because malignant transformation of the lesions might occur.

Methods: Twenty patients (17 men, 3 women; mean age +/-SD, 64.3+/-11.
The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy of multi-parameter measurements with color-coded duplex sonography (CCDS) for the diagnosis of venous leakage in patients with erectile dysfunction. Sixty patients with repeated unsatisfactory reactions after intracavernous injection of vasoactive substances underwent CCDS. Following intracavernous injection of prostaglandin E1, peak systolic velocity (PSV), enddiastolic velocity (EDV), time averaged velocity (TAV), resistance index (RI), and pulsatility index (PI) were measured in the cavernous arteries over 30 min (one measurement per minute).

It allows quantification of tissue vascularity and appreciation of vascular morphology. Due to the unique thyroid hypervascularity in Graves' disease this diagnosis can be made with color Doppler sonography alone.

In view of an increasing artificial radiation exposure, it remains an important aim to achieve dose reduction with persistent adequate imaging quality. We determined the doses of the named organs in four different CT-examination protocols by use of phantom studies and in 45 patients.

Subjects And Methods: Thirty-three patients underwent color Doppler, power Doppler, and spectral duplex sonography after TIPS insertion or before TIPS revision (mean time interval +/- SD, 1 +/- 1 day). All sonograms were obtained before and after patients received echo-enhancing contrast material.
Background: The association of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with different types of glomerulonephritis is well-known for many years. Whereas in Hodgkin's disease, minimal change glomerulonephritis is mainly observed, in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma various forms of glomerulonephritis are found.
Patients And Results: We describe 3 cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which were associated with glomerulonephritis.
Primary extranodal lymphoma manifestation in the narrow sense is the term used to define the primary organ manifestation of a malignant lymphoma, excluding the thymus, spleen, Waldeyer's tonsillar ring, the appendix and Peyer's patches. However, in the clinical routine the term is also used for the secondary organ manifestation of underlying lymphoproliferative disease. Primary extranodal lymphomas are mainly non-Hodgkin lymphomas; there is primary extranodal manifestation of Hodgkin's disease in only about 1% of the cases.

Objectives: To determine the accuracy of pedicle screw placement in lumbar vertebrae and the reproducibility and repeatability of the computed tomography examination.
Summary Of Background Data: Failures in the placement of transpedicular screws for lumbar fusion are reported.
On a 1.5-T MR unit conventional spin-echo (CSE) and fast spin-echo (FSE) images were obtained in 70 consecutive children ranging from 4 days to 13 years in age. They suffered from developmental retardation, neurodegenerative, ischemic or inflammatory diseases.

Staphylococcus hominis and E. coli were recovered respectively from blood cultures of both patients.

After transthoracic surgery the described alterations have also to be taken into account as possible complications of a unilateral percutaneous lung-biopsy.

A new generation of compact computed radiography systems (CR) facilitate the entry into storage phosphorus technique for routine application while future PACS-connection is still possible. In August 1990 the Institute of Diagnostic Radiology (University of Düsseldorf) received the first FCR AC-1 in Germany for clinical trials.

Right (n = 10) and left (n = 6) renal arteries were involved; in 2 patients renal artery stenosis had developed after kidney transplantation. Indications for stent placement were inadequate immediate postangioplasty response (n = 16), and obstructing intimal flaps following transaortic endarterectomy (n = 2).
