A new series of pyrrole analogs were developed via the microwave irradiation synthesis. Consequently, got a high yield of the products. As pyrroles are familiar for showing various biological properties, all obtained compounds were screened for their antioxidant properties, most of the compounds showing significant activity.

The catalytic reaction proceeds very smoothly. The compound methyl substituted 2-(p-methylphenylamino-sulfonylmethyl)-5-[Z-(p-methylstyrylsulfonylmethyl)]-1,3,4-oxadiazole displayed slightly higher antioxidant activity than the standard ascorbic acid.

The styrylsulfonylmethyloxadiazole 5b showed good antioxidant activity when compared with the standard ascorbic acid.
