Clinical results of wound healing dynamics were studied in 60 patients with soft-tissue infection against the background of diabetes mellitus type II. At the same time the study considered indices of intercellular contacts protein tissue expression such as connexin 43 (Cx43) and basic fibroblast growth factor receptors (bFGFR). The basic therapy of biopsy material of wound borders was applied.

The review contains current data on structural and functional brain plasticity mechanisms under the enriched environment. Enriched environment contains social and non-social stimuli acting on different aspects of the development and functioning of the brain. Special attention is devoted to the modeling of enriched environment in the experiment.

Perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury is a relevant medical and social problem. Among many pathological processes in the neonatal period perinatal hypoxic-ischemic injury is a major cause of further hemorrhage, necrotic and atrophic changes in the brain. This review presents recent data on the basic mechanisms of the hypoxic-ischemic brain injury along the concept of neurovascular unit (neurons, astrocytes, endothelial cells, pericytes) with the focus on alterations in cell-to-cell communication.

The review contains current data on molecular mechanisms which control NAD+ homeostasis in brain cells. It also deals with the role of NAD+-converting enzymes in regulation of functional activity, viability and intercellular communication of neuronal and glial cells. Special attention is paid to involvement of CD38 into regulation of NAD+ levels in brain cells in normal and pathological conditions.

The role of P2X7 receptors in modulation of the functional activity of macrophages in mice with model peritonitis has been studied. It is established that the functional activity of murine macrophages under such conditions is increased, which is accompanied by the growth of P2X7(+) macrophages and a bidirectional change of the their functional activity under the action of P2X7 modulators. The role of P2X7-associated mechanisms in regulation of the macrophage activity during inflammation is discussed.

The authors made an attempt to find a new approach to Helicobacter pylori (HP) eradication in patients with chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer without application of antibiotics, but using melatonin properties instead. The study demonstrates an undoubtful effect of melatonin as a preparation that favors HP eradication.

Mechanisms of the myelotoxic action of doxorubicin associated with changes in the expression and functional activity of P2X7 receptors have been assessed. The acute and subacute exposure of bone marrow cells to doxorubicin in vivo changed the expression of P2X7, altered the intracellular and extracellular ATP concentrations, and modulated the process of programmed cell death. These changes were associated with transformed susceptibility of hemopoietic cells to the apoptogenic action of ATP.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of melatonin (melaxen, Unipharm, USA), and its influence on the ultrastructural and histological features on the colon mucosa (CM) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) corresponding to Rome criteria II. Twenty-one patients with IBS were examined before and after the end of the therapy (one month upon the beginning of treatment). All the patients had non-specific morphological changes in the CM, which were more pronounced during exacerbation and less significant during remission.

Aim: To clarify the role of geomagnetic micropulsations Pc1 (0.2-5s) in the range of the basic heart rate in an increase in the number of myocardial infarctions (MI) and sudden death (SD).

Material And Methods: MI incidence rate in Moscow for 1979-1981, SD incidence rate in Bolgaria for 15 years for rural and urban population and data on micropulsations Pc1 were analysed.

Melatonin produces a great variety of effects in human organism and plays an essential role in normal function of the body. This explains growing interest of medical researchers to this substance. The paper provides the results of 3-year studies of seasonal rhythm of melatonin production in patients with duodenal ulcer.

Aim: To study ultrastructural condition of the cels in antral gastric mucosa in patients with duodenal ulcer on melatonin treatment.

Material And Methods: Electron microscopy was made of biopsy specimens of antral stomach mucosa obtained from 14 patients with duodenal ulcer (DU) in exacerbation and in clinicoendoscopic remission after therapy with proton pump blockers (group 1) and after this therapy combined mth melatonin (group 2).

Results: In patients of group 2 there was an increased number of differentiated cover and principal cells, moderately differentiated parietal cells predominated.

Aim: To study mechanisms of action of natural magnetic field of the Earth on arterial pressure (AP) and melatonin production in patients with essential hypertension (EH) stage II.

Material And Methods: Clinical, laboratory and device investigations covered 52 men with EH stage II (mean age 42 +/- 0.92 years) and 11 healthy men (mean age 23 +/- 1.

The study was made on Wistar rats. A shift in endogenous biological rhythms was simulated by that in the light phase by 12 hours and evaluated by the shift in the rhythm of rectal temperature. Experiments revealed that desynchronization potentiated ulcerative processes in the rat stomach.

Hypertensive subjects were examined for production of melatonin. In severe hypertension night levels of melatonin diminished, the day production is as in the controls. The role of melatonin in pathogenesis of essential hypertension is discussed.

The functional characteristics variations during the magnetic storms were observed in both the healthy humans and in patients with cardio-vascular diseases as well as in cosmonauts at SOYUZ spacecraft and MIR station. These characteristics revealed a nonspecific adaptive stress reaction, which should be accompanied by the variations in the stress-hormone production rate. The neurohumoral regulation of the organism functions during the geomagnetic storms in a group of patients with cardio-vascular pathology and in a control group of healthy individuals were studied.
