Task shifting roles, interventions and outcomes for kidney and cardiovascular health service delivery among African populations: a scoping review.

Background: Human resources for health (HRH) shortages are a major limitation to equitable access to healthcare. African countries have the most severe shortage of HRH in the world despite rising communicable and non-communicable disease (NCD) burden. Task shifting provides an opportunity to fill the gaps in HRH shortage in Africa.

Angelman syndrome is often associated with medically refractory epilepsy. Here, we report the case of a young girl with Angelman syndrome who experienced frequent and prolonged atonic seizures associated with dysautonomia and was unresponsive to multiple antiepileptic drugs, but who responded dramatically to the ketogenic diet. Clinicians are encouraged to consider the ketogenic diet early in the treatment course of patients with Angelman syndrome.

Nutrient intakes and physical growth of children with phenylketonuria undergoing nutrition therapy.

Objective: To evaluate nutrient intakes, plasma phenylalanine (PHE) and tyrosine (TYR) concentrations, and physical growth of children with phenylketonuria undergoing nutrition management.

Design: Children were fed three different medical foods during a one-year study. Subjects/setting Children were evaluated at baseline and every three months in metabolic clinics.
