Fetal Ascites: Its Prenatal Management and Postnatal Outcome.

Objective: To report a single tertiary center experience in the management of prenatally diagnosed cases of fetal ascites and their postnatal outcomes.

Methods: Prenatally diagnosed fetal ascites cases were retrospectively analyzed from 2015 to 2022 using two-dimensional ultrasound with other investigations as required in a tertiary care center.

Results: Of 126 fetuses with fetal ascites, 70 progressed to hydrops and hence were excluded from the study.

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the usage and impact of a private and secure instance of a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) application in a large academic health center. The goal was to understand how employees interact with this technology and the influence on their perception of skill and work performance.

Materials And Methods: New York University Langone Health (NYULH) established a secure, private, and managed Azure OpenAI service (GenAI Studio) and granted widespread access to employees.

Trauma-Informed Health Care Practice in the Adolescent Well Visit.

Trauma-informed care (TIC) is a patient-centered, strength-based approach to caring for and empowering patients. The adolescent well visit is an opportune moment to assess and address the impact of trauma. Given the well-documented impact of trauma exposure on adolescent health, and the relationship present between social determinants of health and trauma, physicians and advanced practice practitioners are well positioned to utilize TIC in the medical visit.

Findings from a public engagement programme for school children aged 13-15 years about endocrinology.

Objectives: To investigate the utility and effectiveness of a school outreach programme in areas of lower socioeconomic status to improve understanding of common endocrine topics and the medical profession.

Methods: Two secondary school outreach sessions were conducted in July 2022. Students were invited to attend lectures delivered by medical professionals and engage in poster-making sessions using the knowledge they had gained throughout the day.

The Human Neural Cell Atlas of Zika Infection in developing human brain tissue: viral pathogenesis, innate immunity, and lineage reprogramming.

Zika virus (ZIKV) infection during pregnancy can lead to fetal brain infection and developmental anomalies collectively known as congenital Zika syndrome (CZS). To define the molecular features underlying CZS in a relevant human cell model, we evaluated ZIKV infection and neurodevelopment in primary fetal brain explants and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived mixed neural cultures at single cell resolution. We identified astrocytes as key innate immune sentinel cells detecting ZIKV and producing IFN-β.

Background And Objectives: Medical schools and family medicine organizations have been working on advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism (DEIA). Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) faculty members are disproportionately expected to lead DEIA initiatives, negatively affecting academic promotion and well-being. Our study aimed to describe the existing DEIA initiatives, strategies, and barriers to implementing support for DEIA work, as well as the implications of addressing the minority tax in US and Canadian family medicine departments.

Association of Acute Kidney Injury with Ammonia Poisoning: A Case Report.

Ammonia may cause poisoning due to inhalation or ingestion. Renal involvement in ammonia poisoning has been reported only once. A 30-year-old male working in an ice factory was accidentally exposed to liquid ammonia from a leaking hose, following which he had burns over his face and neck and severe abdominal pain.

Background: To evaluate the efficacy of SIMBA as an educational intervention for both HCPs and people with either PCOS or adrenal conditions and to study the change in knowledge of people with PCOS or adrenal conditions about the conditions and expectations from the HCPs involved in their  care following SIMBA-PPI sessions.

Methods: Two SIMBA-PPI sessions (SIMBA-PPI Polycystic ovary syndrome (SIMBA-PCOS) and SIMBA-PPI Adrenal conditions (SIMBA-Adrenal conditions)) were conducted in September 2021 and March 2022. In both sessions, HCPs interacted with moderators on patient management through WhatsApp.

Our original research study investigates the correlation between lifestyle factors and brain atrophy in individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer's disease (AD), as well as healthy older adults. Conducted over six months in West Texas, the research involved 20 participants aged 62-87.
