Intrauterine deaths - an unsolved problem in Polish perinatology.

Objectives: The Polish criteria for "intrauterine death" include fetal demise after 22 weeks of gestation, weighing > 500 g and body length at least 25 cm, when the gestational age is unknown. The rate of fetal death in Poland in 2015 is 3:10,000. In 2020, 1,231 stillbirths were registered.

Methods: We included 7 and 10 renal transplant recipients, aged >60 and <60 years, respectively, treated with mycophenolate mofetil.

Improving End of Life Cancer Outcomes Through Development and Implementation of a Spiritual Care Advocate Program.

Background: Explored whether increased support for spiritual concerns between the healthcare team and patients through the provision of a Spiritual Care Advocate (SCA) would improve end of life outcomes in a metastatic cancer population.

Design: Newly diagnosed metastatic cancer patients were recruited at the University of Chicago Medical Center and received spiritual support from a Spiritual Care Advocate during chemotherapy treatments. The final sample consisted of 42 patients (58% of those approached) who completed the baseline survey and had known survival status.

Impact of a Clinical Decision Support Tool on Cancer Pain Management in Opioid-Tolerant Inpatients.

Pain is both common and undertreated in the hematology/oncology population despite national guidelines and a focus from The Joint Commission. Herein, we describe the features of a pain clinical decision support tool (PCDST) embedded into the electronic medical record (EMR) and report its impact on oncology inpatients at risk for uncontrolled pain. The PCDST was developed to identify patients with potentially uncontrolled pain, defined as a pain score ≥4.

A Rules-Based Algorithm to Prioritize Poor Prognosis Cancer Patients in Need of Advance Care Planning.

Background: Accurate understanding of the prognosis of an advanced cancer patient can lead to decreased aggressive care at the end of life and earlier hospice enrollment.

Persistent pain in older adults is common, and associated with substantial morbidity. Optimal management starts with assessment, including pain presence, intensity, characteristics, and interference; painful conditions; pain behaviors; pain-related morbidity; pain treatments; and coping style.
