The Impact of Gender on Physical Activity Preferences and Barriers in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes: A Qualitative Study.

Objectives: Current exercise recommendations for people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are based on research involving primarily young, fit male participants. Recent studies have shown possible differences between male and female blood glucose response to exercise, but little is known about whether these differences are sex-related (due to physiological differences between male and female participants) or gender-related (behavioural differences between men and women).

Methods: To better understand gender-based behavioural differences surrounding physical activity (PA), we asked men and women (n=10 each) with T1D to participate in semistructured interviews.

Testing and optimizing metabarcoding of iDNA from dung beetles to sample mammals in the hyperdiverse Neotropics.

Over the past few years, insects have been used as samplers of vertebrate diversity by assessing the ingested-derived DNA (iDNA), and dung beetles have been shown to be a good mammal sampler given their broad feeding preference, wide distribution and easy sampling. Here, we tested and optimized the use of iDNA from dung beetles to assess the mammal community by evaluating if some biological and methodological aspects affect the use of dung beetles as mammal species samplers. We collected 403 dung beetles from 60 pitfall traps.

Dung beetles from two sustainable-use protected forests in the Brazilian Amazon.

Background: The Amazon Forest is one of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems and yet its protected areas are understudied concerning insects and other invertebrates. These organisms are essential for tropical forests due to their ecological processes, with some species being very sensitive to habitat disturbances. Dung beetles (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Scarabaeinae) have been used as bioindicators for more than 30 years and were surveyed to assess the insect biodiversity of two sustainable-use forest reserves in the Brazilian Amazon.

Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Blood Glucose Response to High-intensity Interval Exercise in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes.

Objectives: Exercise-induced hyperglycemia is recognized in type 1 diabetes (T1D) clinical guidelines, but its association with high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) in acute studies is inconsistent. In this meta-analysis, we examined the available evidence of blood glucose responses to HIIE in adults with T1D. The secondary, aim was to examine predictors of blood glucose responses to HIIE.

Stabilometric Analysis of Parkinson's Disease Patients.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is considered a movement disease; it is a progressive and degenerative neurological disorder, causing disabling motor dysfunctions. Investigate the body instability of PD patients through the stabilometry test is the aim of this study. A sample of 40 participants with PD were staged between the stages of the disease using Hoehn and Yahr Modified Scale 1.

Analyses of Baropodometry Protocols Through Bibliometric Research.

The posture of the foot is an important and complex aspect of the human body that implies a constant and coherent adaptation, and keeps the body segments in alignment. Baropodometry is a quantitative exam that evaluates the distribution of pressures at different points in the plantar region and the foot contact area. The objective of the study was to know evaluation protocols that used Barapodometry and to verify which variables were observed after the examination.

Type specimens and names assigned to Coprophanaeus (Megaphanaeus) d'Olsoufieff, 1924, the largest New World dung beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Phanaeini).

Currently 13 species-group names assigned to the subgenus Megaphanaeus of Coprophanaeus are deemed available (or 'potentially available'), four of which denote valid species. In the present work we review the nomenclatural history of those names and conclude that two of them, Scarabaeus satelles Lichtenstein, 1796 and Copris ajax Sturm, 1826, are unavailable. For the other 11 names, we found type specimens of five, Scarabaeus bellicosus Olivier, 1789, Copris ensifer Germar, 1821, Phanaeus septentrionalis Pêssoa, 1934, P.

Taxonomic revision of the Dichotomius speciosus (Waterhouse, 1891) species group (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae).

The Dichotomius speciosus species group, endemic to the highlands of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and included in the subgenus Luederwaldtinia is taxonomically revised. Dichotomius alvarengai new species and D. malyi new species are described.
