The silicate laminate consists of silicon-oxygen at tetrahedral sites and aluminum-oxygen at octahedral sites. Since HNT has an abundant hydroxyl group on the surface with exceptional cation/anion exchange capacity, the surface-functionalized HNT could boost electrocatalytic activity.
