Universality of the Förster's model for resonant exciton transfer in ensembles of nanocrystals.

For nanocrystals in a strong quantum confinement regime, it has been confirmed analytically that resonant exciton transfer proceeds in full accordance with the Förster mechanism. This means that the virtual exciton transitions between the nanocrystals of close sizes are governed only by the dipole-dipole interaction of nanocrystals even in very dense ensembles, while the contributions of all other higher-order multipoles are negligibly small. Based on a simple isotropic model of the envelope function approximation and neglecting the electron-hole interaction inside each nanocrystal, we have computed the rate of the resonant exciton transfer between two nanocrystals.

Characteristics of liver fibrosis associated with chronic Opisthorchis felineus infection in Syrian hamsters and humans.

This study shows a comparison of the characteristics between cholangiofibrosis and periductal fibrosis in infected people and in the golden hamster as an experimental model. [Degree of purification of a chemical epidemic typhus vaccine of the heterogeneous ballast proteins].

The degree of purification of chemical typhus vaccine from the ballast proteins of the substrate has been studied by chemical and immunochemical methods. The analysis of 11 production batches of the vaccine and a number of model preparations has revealed that chemical typhus vaccine is completely free from nonprotein nitrogen-containing components and, to a considerable extent, purified from ballast protein, its concentration being 0.033-0.

[Standardization of preparations intended for the serodiagnosis of arboviruses].

As the result of our research work, 3 reference preparations have been first obtained and studied in accordance with all requirements of biological standardization. These preparations are the national standard of yellow fever antiserum and immune ascitic fluids (IAF) used as reference reagents: IAF to tick-borne encephalitis virus and IAF to Japanese encephalitis virus. The new preparations are stable, possess sufficient specific activity and can be used as standard preparations for the identification of the above-mentioned viruses.

[Proliferative kinetics of antibody-forming cells normally and exposed to vinblastine].

The proliferative kinetics of IgM antibody-producing cells (APC) of mice immunized by sheep red blood cells was studied using autoradiography and vinblastine. The incorporation index for APC was determined every 4 hours from 72 to 112 hours of the immune response. The significance of recruitment in APC exponential growth was proven by means of 3 different regimes of 3H-thymidine introduction to immunized mice.

[Effect of methotrexate on the level of T- and B-lymphocytes].

Through an analysis of the immune response of mice to sheep's erythrocytes within a system of syngenic transfer the action of Methotrexate on the T- and B-lymphocytes was studied. Splenic cells of donors receiving methotrexate were introduced to lethally irradiated recipients together with the bone morrow or thymus cells. In the recipients' spleen the content of antibody-forming cells and hemolytic foci were determined.

[Immunosuppressive properties of vinblastine and colchicine].

The action of vinblastine and colchicine on the populations of antibody-forming cells, their precursors and stem cells using a model of primary immune response and in the transplantation system was studied using techniques by Jerne and Nordin (1963), Kennedy et al. (1965), and Till and McCulloch (1961). It was discovered that vinblastine and colchicine, at single administration 48 hours after immunization, inhibited immune response completely.

[Kinetic peculiarities of the immunodepressive effect of methotrexate].

The content of direct plaque-forming cells (PFC) in the spleen of sheep erythrocytes immunized mice after a single administration to them of 2.5 mg/kg methotrexate on the 48th or 72nd hour of the immune response was measured. The PFC count was determined every 4 hours for 68 hours after introduction of methotrexate.

[Determination of the relative volume of the incorporations of a lipid nature by Candida guilleirmondii yeast cultured on hydrocarbons].

The paper describes a method for measuring a relative volume of lipid incorporations into yeast Candida guilliermondii cultivated on hydrocarbons. A relative volume of the incorporations (mean ratio of the volume of lipid incorporations to the cell volume expressed as percentage) as compared with the hydrocarbon content in the cells expressed as percentage of the yeast dry weight is given for each yeast sample. A direct correlation between the hydrocarbon content and relative volume of lipid incorporations has been demonstrated.
