Unlabelled: Neuroendocrine neoplasms are a rare and heterogeneous group of neoplasms. Small-sized (≤2 cm) pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) are of particular interest as they are often associated with aggressive behavior, with no specific prognostic or progression markers.

A photonic crystal microcavity with the liquid crystal resonant layer tunable by heating has been implemented. The multiple vanishing resonant lines corresponding to optical bound states in the continuum are observed. We analyze the stationary current of Bose particles across the Bose-Hubbard chain connected to a battery, focusing on the effect of interparticle interactions. It is shown that the current magnitude drastically decreases as the strength of interparticle interactions exceeds the critical value which marks the transition to quantum chaos in the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian. We found that this transition is well reflected in the nonequilibrium many-body density matrix of the system.

We propose a simple, yet feasible, model for quantum transport of fermionic carriers across tight-binding chain connecting two reservoirs maintained at arbitrary temperatures and chemical potentials. The model allows for elementary derivation of the master equation for the reduced single particle density matrix (SPDM) in a closed form in both Markov and Born approximations. In the Markov approximation the master equation is solved analytically, whereas in the Born approximation the problem is reduced to an algebraic equation for the SPDM in the Redfield form.

The microcavity in the form of a liquid crystal defect layer embedded in a one-dimensional photonic crystal is considered. The microcavity mode has a tunable radiation decay rate in the vicinity of a bound state in the continuum. It is demonstrated that coupling between the microcavity mode and a Tamm plasmon polariton results in hybrid Tamm-microcavity modes with a tunable factor.

Near-edge X-ray absorption mass spectrometry (NEXAMS) around the nitrogen and oxygen K-edges was employed on gas-phase peptides to probe the electronic transitions related to their protonation sites, namely at basic side chains, the N-terminus and the amide oxygen. The experimental results are supported by replica exchange molecular dynamics and density-functional theory and restricted open-shell configuration with single calculations to attribute the transitions responsible for the experimentally observed resonances. We studied five tailor-made glycine-based pentapeptides, where we identified the signature of the protonation site of N-terminal proline, histidine, lysine and arginine, at 406 eV, corresponding to N 1s → σ*(NH) ( = 2 or 3) transitions, depending on the peptides.

In this Letter, we consider optical bound states in the continuum (BICs) in the infrared range supported by an all-dielectric metasurface in the form of subwavelength dielectric grating. We apply the random forest machine learning method to predict the frequency of the BICs as dependent on the optical and geometric parameters of the metasurface. It is found that the machine learning approach outperforms the standard least square method at the size of the dataset of ≈4000 specimens.

We analyze the classical and quantum dynamics of the driven dissipative Bose-Hubbard dimer. Under variation of the driving frequency, the classical system is shown to exhibit a bifurcation to the limit cycle, where its steady-state solution corresponds to periodic oscillation with the frequency unrelated to the driving frequency. This bifurcation is shown to lead to a peculiarity in the single-particle density matrix of the quantum system.

It is known that the quantum transport of noninteracting Bose particles across a tight-binding chain is ballistic in the sense that the current does not depend on the chain length. We address the question whether the transport of strongly interacting bosons can be ballistic as well. We find such a regime and show that, classically, it corresponds to the synchronized motion of local nonlinear oscillators.

We consider Tamm plasmon polariton in a subwavelength grating patterned on top of a Bragg reflector. We demonstrate dynamic control of the phase and amplitude of a plane wave reflected from such metagrating due to resonant coupling with the Tamm plasmon polariton. The tunability of the phase and amplitude of the reflected wave arises from modulation of the refractive index of a transparent conductive oxide layer by applying the bias voltage.

Electronic charge rearrangement between components of a heterostructure is the fundamental principle to reach the electronic ground state. It is acknowledged that the density of state distribution of the components governs the amount of charge transfer, but a notable dependence on temperature is not yet considered, particularly for weakly interacting systems. Here, it is experimentally observed that the amount of ground-state charge transfer in a van der Waals heterostructure formed by monolayer MoS sandwiched between graphite and a molecular electron acceptor layer increases by a factor of 3 when going from 7 K to room temperature.

We explored functional roles of two H3K9-specific histone methyltransferases of , SetDB1 (also known as Eggless) and Su(var)3-9. Using the DamID approach, we generated the binding profile for SetDB1 in salivary gland chromosomes, and matched it to the profile of Su(var)3-9. Unlike Su(var)3-9, SetDB1 turned out to be an euchromatic protein that is absent from repeated DNA compartments, and is largely restricted to transcription start sites (TSSs) and 5' untranslated regions (5'UTRs) of ubiquitously expressed genes.
