Meningioma is the most common primary intracranial tumor in adults, with up to 10% manifesting as multiple tumors. Data on the genomic and molecular changes in sporadic multiple meningiomas are scarce, leading to ongoing debates regarding their evolutionary processes. A comprehensive genetic analysis of a large number of lesions, including precursor lesions, is necessary to explore these two possible origins: clonal and independent.

SMARCB1 (INI1)-deficient intrathoracic neoplasms are extremely rare and known to be highly malignant and lethal. This report presents the case of a patient diagnosed with SMARCB1 (INI1)-deficient intrathoracic neoplasm during chemotherapy for plasma cell myeloma.

Vascular mural cells surrounding endothelial cells consist of vascular smooth muscle cells (vSMCs) and pericytes, which are essential elements that support blood vessels and regulate permeability. This study investigated the involvement of mural cells in cyst formation.

Collagen alpha-2(I) chain (COL1A2) is a chain of type I collagen whose triple helix comprises two alpha-1 chains and one alpha-2 chain. The authors' proteomics data showed that COL1A2 is significantly higher in the blood of patients with glioblastoma (GBM) compared with healthy controls.

PAI uses laser light to detect relative amounts of oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin in intestinal tissue. In 30 rats, AMI was induced by clamping the mesenteric and marginal vessels of the ileum for 0 min in the control group, 30 min in the mild group, and 180 min in the severe group (10 rats per group).

It is defined as a malignant neoplasm characterized by morphologic, immunohistochemical, ultrastructural, or molecular genetic evidence of primary skeletal muscle differentiation, usually in the absence of any other pattern of differentiation. Primary intracranial rhabdomyosarcoma (PIRMS) is an extremely rare neoplasm, with only 60 cases reported in the literature, and generally has poor prognosis with an overall survival of only 9.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccumulation of β amyloid (Aβ) peptides to nerve cells should be associated with the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD). We prepared hybrid liposomes (HL) composed of 90 mol% phospholipids having various charged head groups (cationic L-α-dimyristoyltrimethyl ammonium propane (DMTAP), anionic L-α-dimyristoylphosphatidylserine (DMPS) or zwitterionic L-α-dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC)) and 10 mol% polyoxyethylene(23) dodecyl ether (C(12)(EO)(23))), and investigated the inhibitory effects of HL on the accumulation of Aβ(1-40) peptides into human neuroblastoma (SH-SY5Y) cells in vitro. It is noteworthy that remarkable inhibitory effects on the accumulation of Aβ(1-40) peptides were observed for SH-SY5Y cells treated with anionic HL-DMPS, though the accumulation was not inhibited by cationic HL-DMTAP.
