Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is the abnormal elevation of pressure in the pulmonary vascular system, with various underlying causes. A specific type of PH is pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a severe condition characterized by high pulmonary arterial pressure resulting from structural changes in distal pulmonary vessels, altered arterial tone, and inflammation. This leads to right ventricular hypertrophy and heart failure.

Background: Intra-operative breakage of laparoscopy instruments is a rare occurrence. It entails a risk of the foreign body being retained in the abdomen and may lead to medico-legal implications. The foreign body migrates due to bowel movements.

The infestation of the human body by maggots has been reported worldwide and occurs most commonly in people of lower socioeconomic status and poor personal hygiene. Urogenital is the rarest site of myiasis presentations. Here we report the case of a 20-year-old, sexually inactive female student who presented with a necrotic growth in the paraurethral region infested with numerous maggots.

Introduction: Granulosa cell tumour (GCT) comprises 2-5% of ovarian malignancies. They are hormonally active tumours and may present with menstrual complaints, abdominal distension or infertility. Prognosis is generally favourable because of the early stage at diagnosis and less aggressive behaviour.

Aims: The prevalence of premature coronary artery disease (CAD) in India is two to three times more than other ethnic groups. Untreated heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is one of the important causes for premature CAD. As the age advances, these patients without treatment have 100 times increased risk of cardiovascular (CV) mortality resulting from myocardial infarction (MI).

Objective: Primary objective was to compare the effects of atorvastatin 40mg vs 80mg on LDL-C in Indian patients with atherosclerotic dyslipidemia. Secondary objectives were to compare the effects of atorvastatin 40mg vs 80mg on HDL-C and triglycerides and also comparing of side effects (myopathy, hepatotoxicity and new onset diabetes mellitus) of both doses.

Method: This Study is A Prospective, randomized, open-label, comparative study.

This article compares the mortality data for injuries in children aged 0-14 years in the World Health Organization WHO European region as estimated by the WHO Global Health Estimates for 2000 and 2015. While the region has seen a decline in child mortality due to injuries over the years, inequality persists between the low- and middle-income countries and high-income countries in the region. The gap in child mortality due to unintentional injuries has widened over the years between these two socioeconomic regions, particularly in terms of road injuries.

Duck plaque virus (DPV) belongs to the family Herpesviridae. The live attenuated vaccine is the only way to protect the ducks from DPV infection. The ineffectiveness of vaccine is one of the major causes of DPV outbreaks in the field condition.

Rabies virus (RABV) is the causative agent of a fatal nervous system ailment. The disease is zoonotic and prevalent in many developing countries. The glycoprotein (G) of RABV is the major antigenic determinant of the virus and plays a pivotal role in its neurovirulence.

Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is responsible for causing respiratory, renal, and urogenital diseases in poultry. IBV infection in poultry leads to high mortality rates in affected flocks and to severe economic losses due to a drop in egg production and a reduced gain in live weight of the broiler birds. IBV-encoded spike protein (S) is the major protective immunogen for the host.

Radiofrequency ablation is a therapeutic option for recurrent ventricular tachycardia (VT) in both ischaemic and non-ischaemic subsets. Usually this is attempted by mapping endocardially; however, in some situations epicardial approach may be needed to access the VT circuit. We report two cases in which epicardial approach was used to successfully ablate the VT, when endocardial ablation was ineffective.

Successful Induction With Progesterone and Radiofrequency Ablation. Verapamil-sensitive idiopathic left ventricular tachycardia in pregnancy is a rare diagnosis. We report a case of a primigravida female with new onset fascicular ventricular tachycardia that was managed with oral verapamil.

Ventricular tachycardia (VT) occurring late after myocardial infarction is often due to reentry circuit in the peri-infarct zone. The circuit is usually located in the sub-endocardium, though subepicardial substrates are known. Activation mapping during VT to identify target regions for ablation can be difficult if VT is non inducible or poorly tolerated.

Objective: Inflammation has been proposed as one of the factors responsible for the development of coronary artery disease (CAD) and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs CRP) at present is the strongest marker of inflammation. We did a study to assess the correlation of hs-CRP with socio-economic status (SES) in patients of CAD presenting as acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Methods: Baseline hs-CRP of 490 patients of ACS was estimated by turbidimetric immunoassay.

We report a patient with fever, progressive jaundice and abdominal distension, having marked pallor, icterus, ascites and hepatosplenomegaly. Investigations revealed pancytopenia and deranged liver functions. Doppler study revealed portal hypertension and endoscopy showed grade II oesophageal varices.

Anemia is common with connective tissue disorders, but pancytopenia is rare. We report a 22-year-old female who presented with menorrhagia, seizures, anemia, leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia, pericardial effusion, positive ANA, and evidence of vasculitis on CT head scan and was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). After 7 months of remission, she was readmitted with menorrhagia and pancytopenia.

A 34-year-old female with end-stage renal disease was admitted for severe metabolic acidosis, uremic encephalopathy, pericarditis and severe anemia following a bout of acute gastroenteritis. She improved on aggressive medical management including intensive hemodialysis and was initiated onto maintenance heparin-free hemodialysis (twelve hours per week) and discharged. After a week, she presented with fever with chills and rigors for three days, was toxic, severely orthopenic and had a pulsus paradoxus of 36 mmHg.

A 55 year old female was admitted as a case of pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO) of 2 months duration. She had developed throat ache, progressive dysphagia for both solids and liquids, dry cough and retrosternal pain for one week. Examination revealed fever, tachycardia, tachypnoea and a soft tissue warm tender, erythematous, non-fluctuant swelling in lower anterior neck with chest findings suggestive of bilateral pleural effusion.

Photoemission spectra of vacuum deposited layers of C(60), before and after exposure to K vapor, show that the K donates its conduction electron into the band derived from the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital. A compound with composition of K(3)C(60), corresponding to the maximum conductivity, has been prepared. In it the potassium atoms presumably occupy both the octahedral and the two tetrahedral interstitial sites of the face-centered-cubic (fcc) C(60) structure.
