Introduction: Reducing alcohol affordability reduces alcohol-related harm but its impact on socio-economic inequalities requires further study. We examine changes in alcohol-attributable mortality inequalities in Finland during periods of sharply rising (2000-2007) and falling (2008-2017) alcohol affordability.

Methods: Linking individual-level register data on causes of death and socio-demographics for the Finnish population aged ≥25 in 2000-2017 (68 million person-years), we analysed age-standardised monthly alcohol-attributable mortality rates by sex and income quintile (n = 32,699 alcohol-attributable deaths).

Greater sage-grouse (hereafter sage-grouse; ) populations have declined across their range. Increased nest predation as a result of anthropogenic land use is one mechanism proposed to explain these declines. However, sage-grouse contend with a diverse suite of nest predators that vary in functional traits (e.

Background: There has been a proliferation of frameworks with a common goal of bridging the gap between evidence, policy, and practice, but few aim to specifically guide evaluations of academic-policy engagement. We present the modification of an action framework for the purpose of selecting, developing and evaluating interventions for academic-policy engagement.

Methods: We build on the conceptual work of an existing framework known as SPIRIT (Supporting Policy In Health with Research: an Intervention Trial), developed for the evaluation of strategies intended to increase the use of research in health policy.

Telemetry technology is ubiquitous for studying the behavior and demography of wildlife, including the use of traditional very high frequency (VHF) radio telemetry and more recent methods that record animal locations using global positioning systems (GPS). Satellite-based GPS telemetry allows researchers to collect high spatial-temporal resolution data remotely but may also come with additional costs. For example, recent studies from the southern Great Basin suggested GPS transmitters attached via backpacks may reduce the survival of greater sage-grouse () relative to VHF transmitters attached via collars that have been in use for decades.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the non-perfused volume (NPV) changes following heat-based prostate ablation therapy in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), primary prostate cancer (PCa), and radiorecurrent PCa.
  • Results show significant differences in NPV reduction among the groups at three and six months, with BPH showing a notable decrease while radiorecurrent PCa's NPV slightly increased.
  • The findings indicate that necrotic tissue resolution is slower in previously irradiated tissue, which may contribute to increased treatment toxicity, but by 12 months, most necrotic tissue had resolved across all groups.

Introduction: Studies about drinking in homes are scarce despite the growing importance of the phenomenon. We examined how often different age groups in Finland drink-overall or to intoxication-in their own homes without company beyond the family and in their own or other people's homes with other company, compared to other settings, and on what days and hours of the week this occurs.

Methods: A general population survey carried out in 2016 with event-level data (n = 7124 occasions by 1955 respondents).

Unlabelled: The non-perfused volume (NPV) is an important indicator of treatment success immediately after prostate ablation. However, visualization of the NPV first requires an injection of MRI contrast agents into the bloodstream, which has many downsides. Purpose of this study was to develop a deep learning model capable of predicting the NPV immediately after prostate ablation therapy without the need for MRI contrast agents.

Next-generation, truly soft, and stretchable electronic circuits with material level self-healing functionality require high-performance solution-processable organic conductors capable of autonomously self-healing without external intervention. A persistent challenge is to achieve required performance level as electrical, mechanical, and self-healing properties optimized in tandem are difficult to attain. Here heterogenous multiphase conductor with cocontinuous morphology and macroscale phase separation for ultrafast universally autonomous self-healing with full recovery of pristine tensile and electrical properties in less than 120 and 900 s, respectively, is reported.

Aims: Both survey and healthcare register data struggle as data sources to capture the phenomenon of alcohol problems. We study a large group of people for whom survey data and two types of register data are available, and examine the overlaps of similar or related measures in the different data sources to learn about potential weaknesses in each. We also examine how register-based data on the prevalence of alcohol problems change depending on which register data are used.

Objectives: Fiducial markers improve accuracy in external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) for treatment of prostate cancer (PCa). However, many patients recur after EBRT necessitating additional treatment, such as MR-guided transurethral ultrasound ablation (TULSA). Residual markers may compromise TULSA through ultrasound field distortions and generation of local susceptibility artifacts.

Background: People should be able to quit or moderate their drinking without negative social consequences, but studies have shown how nondrinkers often face pressure and negative reactions. As previous research has mostly focused on youth, we conducted a population-level study of the ways adult nondrinkers encounter their drinking companions on drinking occasions and what kinds of reactions they perceive from their social environments.

Method: The data were based on the Finnish Drinking Habits Survey (FDHS), a general population survey of Finns aged 15-79 collected in 2016 (=2,285; 330 nondrinkers; response rate 60%).
