A Rare Case of Intramyocardial Dissecting Hematoma following Acute Myocardial Infarction.

Intramyocardial dissecting hematoma (IDH) is a rare and very dangerous complication of myocardial infarction (MI) and percutaneous intervention. Hemorrhage inside the spiral fibers of the myocardium causes this type of dreaded complication. We have reported a case of IDH following acute anterior wall MI.

Impact of COVID-19 on heart failure hospitalization and outcome in India - A cardiological society of India study (CSI-HF in COVID 19 times study - "The COVID C-HF study").

Objectives: The presentation and outcomes of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) during COVID times (June 2020 to Dec 2020) were compared with the historical control during the same period in 2019.

Methods: Data of 4806 consecutive patients of acute HF admitted in 22 centres in the country were collected during this period. The admission patterns, aetiology, outcomes, prescription of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) and interventions were analysed in this retrospective study.

COVID-19 infected ST-Elevation myocardial infarction in India (COSTA INDIA).

Objective: To find out differences in the presentation, management and outcomes of COVID-19 infected STEMI patients compared to age and sex-matched non-infected STEMI patients treated during the same period.

Methods: This was a retrospective multicentre observational registry in which we collected data of COVID-19 positive STEMI patients from selected tertiary care hospitals across India. For every COVID-19 positive STEMI patient, two age and sex-matched COVID-19 negative STEMI patients were enrolled as control.

Changing pattern of admissions for acute myocardial infarction in India during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aim: Studies on the changes in the presentation and management of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) during the COVID-19 pandemic from low- and middle-income countries are limited. We sought to determine the changes in the number of admissions, management practices, and outcomes of AMI during the pandemic period in India.

Methods & Results: In this two-timepoint cross-sectional study involving 187 hospitals across India, patients admitted with AMI between 15th March to 15th June in 2020 were compared with those admitted during the corresponding period of 2019.

A liquid chromatographic method for determination of acetamiprid and buprofezin residues and their dissipation kinetics in paddy matrices and soil.

The present study was conducted to investigate the residue status of two insecticides (acetamiprid and buprofezin) and their dissipation kinetics in three matrices viz. paddy grain, straw, and soil. The extraction procedure for residues of these two insecticides was executed using acetonitrile solvent.

Restrictive cardiomyopathy: A rare presentation of gaucher disease.

Restrictive cardiomyopathy is an unusual form of cardiomyopathy accounting only for 2%-5% of all pediatric cardiomyopathies. It is mostly idiopathic. Gaucher disease in association with restrictive cardiomyopathy is extremely rare.

Prognostic Significance of Inferior Vena Caval Diameter in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure.

Background: Heart failure is a major public health problem with rising prevalence and accounts for a substantial number of OPD and emergency visits. Despite advances in pharmacotherapy and various devices being added to the armamentarium in managing heart failure the mortality continue to remain high. Therefore, we seek to find an easy bedside tool for risk stratification and prognostication of patients suffering from chronic heart failure for identifying patients with high risk and tailoring appropriate therapy for better outcome.

A Rare Case of Dense Spontaneous Echo Contrast within Inferior Vena Cava.

A 33-year-old gentleman was examined because of fatigue and progressive right heart failure. A striking finding in his echocardiogram was intense and slow-moving dense echo contrast in the inferior vena cava (IVC). Cardiac catheterization revealed constrictive pericarditis, and pericardiectomy was performed.

Periorbital ecchymoses and breathlessness.

A 54-year-old man presented at our facility with a 3-month history of exertional breathlessness and purple blotches around his eyes. Examination revealed bilateral periorbital and perioral ecchymosis, purpuric spots along his waist, and waxy papules on his eyelids. In addition, the patient had macroglossia with nodular infiltration and irregular indentations at the lateral margin of his tongue.

Symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating ventricular pseudoaneurysm: a report of an unusual case and a brief review of the literature.

Symmetrical peripheral gangrene is an ischemic necrosis simultaneously involving the distal portions of two or more extremities without any proximal arterial obstruction or vasculitis. It may occur as a result of a large number of infectious and non-infectious causes. A few cases of symmetrical peripheral gangrene associated with cardiac disease have been described in the literature.

Double chamber right ventricle in Williams syndrome: a rare cardiac anomaly reported.

Cardiovascular abnormality is the most consistent finding and occur in almost 80 % of all Williams syndrome (WS). Although a number of cardiovascular defects are common to WS, the majority presents in some form of arterial stenosis whereas supravalvular aortic stenosis is the most common one. Here we describe a 12 year old boy with elfin facies, presenting with urinary incontinence and a systolic murmur in right upper parasternal region.

Generalized woolly hair with diventricular arrythmogenic cardiomyopathy: a rare variant of Naxos disease.

Woolly hair may occur as an isolated problem of cosmetic concern or can be a part of a systemic disease (woolly hair syndrome) with underlying fatal cardiomyopathy. Two characteristic associations of woolly hair syndrome are Naxos disease and Carvajal syndrome. Naxos disease is characterized by woolly hair, palmoplantar keratoderma, and arrythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.
