Purpose: We report on the first randomized trial to our knowledge comparing holmium laser ablation and photoselective vaporization of the prostate in patients with a small to moderate size prostate.
Materials And Methods: Between March 2005 and April 2007, 109 patients with lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate size 60 cc or smaller were randomized to photoselective vaporization of the prostate (52) or holmium laser ablation of the prostate (57). All patients were evaluated by preoperative and postoperative International Prostate Symptom Score, peak flow rate and post-void residual urine volume, measurement of prostate specific antigen and transrectal ultrasound prostate volume.
Purpose: Prescrotal orchiopexy is emerging as an alternative surgical approach to undescended testicles. We compare operative times, success rates and complications of single incision prescrotal orchiopexy and the traditional inguinal approach.
Materials And Methods: During a 3-year period all patients who underwent prescrotal orchiopexy were retrospectively reviewed and compared to age matched controls operated on via the traditional inguinal approach.
We describe a case of right renal agenesis with ipsilateral ectopic ureter opening into a large seminal vesicle cyst in a 24-year old man. The patient presented with left flank pain and the imaging studies showed absent right kidney and a large pelvic cyst possibly arising from seminal vesicle. The cyst was removed together with the right ureter and kidney remnant through a laparotomy.

Total thyroidectomy potentially carries a higher operative risk, whereas partial thyroidectomy has the risk of leaving significant residual malignancy. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency and potential predictive factors of malignancy in the residual thyroid tissue and the cervical lymph nodes (CLN) in patients with DTC who had partial thyroid surgery and subsequently underwent completion thyroidectomy and/or modified neck dissection.
