Background: Pregnancy-related venous thromboembolism (VTE) is one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality.
Objectives: To review the epidemiology, and humanistic and economic burden of pregnancy-related VTE.
Search Strategy: Medline, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Econlit, Science Direct, JSTOR, Oxford Journals, and Cambridge Journals were searched for reports published between January 2000 and December 2012.
Low molecular weight heparins have demonstrated superiority over coumarins in the extended treatment of cancer-associated thrombosis and are recommended as first-line therapy in clinical guidelines. Non-vitamin K oral antagonists are yet to be evaluated against low molecular weight heparin for this indication. Nevertheless, a perception that patients favor oral anticoagulants over injections may lead to an increased prescribing of warfarin or non-vitamin K oral antagonists despite the evidence gap.

Methods: 9,990 telephone-based household surveys from age 14 were conducted between 2001 and 2006. Essentially, the same questionnaire was used in all seasons.
Question Under Study: despite the increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes, its financial burden on the Swiss healthcare system remains unclear. Our aim was to determine the cost of self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) in reducing diabetic complications by comparing the direct costs to the Swiss statutory health insurance system of diabetic complications in SMBG users vs. nonusers.

In seasons 2001/2002 to 2005/2006, telephone-based household surveys representative of the population from age 16 were conducted, with about 2000 interviews per season (10,095 in total). Overall influenza vaccination coverage rate in Great Britain reached 25.

Objective: To understand potential drivers and barriers to influenza vaccination in the general population.
Methods: 47 982 household surveys were conducted in five European countries between 2001 and 2006.
Results: Overall influenza vaccination coverage increased over the years and reached 26.
Objective: The EPHESUS study demonstrated that aldosterone blockade with eplerenone decreased mortality in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) and heart failure after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The EPHESUS pharmacoeconomic analysis was performed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of eplerenone in the Swiss setting.
Materials And Methods: A total of 6,632 patients with LVSD and heart failure after AMI were randomized to eplerenone or placebo and followed for a mean of 16 months.
