Vasopressor Effect of Indigo Carmine in the Management of Refractory Neurogenic Shock.

Neurogenic shock in patients with spinal cord injuries can be fatal. Catecholamines are commonly used for the management of neurogenic shock; however, the treatment of catecholamine-refractory neurogenic shock remains challenging. A 78-year-old woman with neurogenic shock from cervical cord injury underwent posterior cervical spine decompression and fixation.

[Case of neuroleptic malignant syndrome following open heart surgery for thoracic aortic aneurysm with parkinson's disease].

An 80-year-old woman with Parkinson's disease was scheduled for open heart surgery to repair thoracic aortic aneurysm. Parkinson's symptoms were normally treated using oral levodopa (200 mg), selegiline-hydrochloride (5 mg), bromocriptine-mesilate (2 mg), and amantadine-hydrochloride (200 mg) daily. On the day before surgery, levodopa 50mg was infused intravenously.

[The effectiveness of a system using re-useable linens to reduce the expense of surgical operations].

We introduced a system that uses re-useable linens for surgical operations in 2008. After 3 years from introduction we were able to reduce the expense of about yen 4,340,000 per year and CO2 production of 9,548 kg CO2 x m(-2) per year. We were convinced of the effect on reducing the expense of surgical operations and of decreasing the level of CO2 production that leads to global warming.
