Rehydration of dairy powders is a complex and essential process. A relatively new quantitative mechanism for monitoring powders' rehydration process uses the effective diffusion coefficient. This research focused on modifying a previously used labor-intensive method that will be able to automatically measure the real-time water diffusion coefficient in dairy powders based on confocal microscopy techniques.

The characteristics of particles and the applied stress from processing conditions on the particles are 2 main factors that can be manipulated to reduce breakage. In this study, we explored the effect of whey protein and lactose contents on dynamic breakage in agglomerated whey protein-lactose powders to provide useful information, in terms of particle characteristics, for controlling unwanted dairy powder breakage.

Whey protein powders were bigger in particle size, weaker in structural strength, and marginally more irregular in shape, which resulted in better rehydration properties but more breakage than pure casein powders. Similarly, sucrose samples had better rehydration properties and higher glass transition temperatures but suffered more breakage than maltodextrin and pure lactose powders because of their bigger particle size.

One possible way to improve powder solubility is through the creation of vacuoles and pores in the particle structure using high pressure gas injection during spray drying. The aim of this study was to determine whether changes in particle morphology effect physical properties, such as hydration, water sorption, structural strength, glass transition temperature, and α-relaxation temperatures.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: This observational, cross-sectional study recruited children from the Rheumocardiology Department of Children's Clinical Hospital No 6 in Kyiv, with metabolic syndrome, identification of waist-to-height ratio, leptin level, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance and lipid profile. The main group included 41 children with metabolic syndrome and hypertension and the control group included 40 children with metabolic syndrome without hypertension.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is mainly a disease of children and young adults. The onset of disease is associated with 3 classical symptoms: polydipsia, polyphagia, and polyuria. Hyperglycaemia is the main and primary metabolic disorder in T1D.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLow and high protein dairy powders are prone to caking and sticking and can also be highly insoluble; with powder storage conditions an important factor responsible for such issues. The aim of this study focused on the bulk and surface properties of anhydrous and humidified spray-dried milk protein concentrate (MPC) powders (protein content ~40, 50, 60, 70 or 80%, w/w). Water sorption isotherms, polarized light and scanning electron micrographs showed crystallized lactose in low protein powders at high water activities.

This paper was focusing on understanding structural relaxations in that systems near glass transition temperature. Freeze-dried trehalose-whey protein isolate-sunflower oil systems with various ratios of the last were used as a carbohydrate-protein-lipid food model.

Based on Williams-Landel-Ferry (WLF) equation, the strength concept was introduced. This concept provides a simple parameter, S, to express resistance of solids to flow above the glass transition temperature.

Patients received either on-demand symptomatic standard treatment (ST-group) or the same ST plus a homeopathic medication (Influcid; IFC-group) for 7 days. Outcome assessment was based on symptom and fever resolution and the Wisconsin Upper Respiratory Symptom Survey-21 (WURSS-21).

It is shown, that there exist three models of the organization of rendering of medical care to the children: pediatric model (the doctor - pediatrist as a primary part of rendering of medical care of children), system of the general practice (the doctor - pediatrist carries out functions of the adviser) and the combined system which is based on the listed above models. Pointed that the system of the general practice is inherent in the countries with a high level of incomes on one inhabitant of the country.

The most effective treatment of patients with only nocturnal enuresis was using a complex of nootropic psychostimulant medications (Fesam, B vitamins, apilak, Ca Glycerophosphat) with xanthinol nicotinat and combined treatment with the help of day-light therapy (motivating and regimen measures).

Lipid, phospholipid and fattyacid spectrum of membranes of lymphocytes isolated from the peripheral blood of patients with pyelinephritis were studied. It has been established that in the active phase of the disease the ratio of certain lipidic and phospholipidic fractions gets changed, in the first place, those of free cholesterin, phospholipids, phosphatidilcholin, phosphatidilethanolamine. In the fattyacid spectrum, the content of oleic, linoleic and, in particular, arachidonic acid, has been noted to get reduced.
