Background And Purpose: Intracranial solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) and meningiomas are CNS tumors that share similar imaging manifestations but exhibit different clinical behaviors. This study aimed to compare ADC values and conventional imaging features, particularly pre-contrast T1-weighted signal intensity, between intracranial SFTs and meningiomas.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 13 patients with pathologically proven intracranial SFTs and 27 patients with meningiomas who attended our hospital between January 2002 and December 2023.
Accurate CT protocol assignment is crucial for optimizing medical imaging procedures. The integration of large language models (LLMs) may be helpful, but its efficacy as a clinical decision support system for protocoling tasks remains unknown. This study aimed to develop and evaluate fine-tuned LLM specifically designed for CT protocoling, as well as assess its performance, both standalone and in concurrent use, in terms of effectiveness and efficiency within radiological workflows.

In this article, we report a case with ASM in a 54-year-old woman with characteristic findings on computed tomography (CT) and fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG PET)/CT. Contrast-enhanced CT on admission revealed hepatosplenomegaly, generalized osteosclerosis, colonic edema, edematous thickening of the wall in the ascending colon and edema in the surrounding regions of these organs and mesentery, ileus, subcutaneous edema, periportal collar sign, and multiple mesenteric lymphadenopathies.

n-3 Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LC-PUFAs), including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), are essential multifunctional nutrients in animals. Microorganisms such as microalgae are known to be n-3 LC-PUFA producers in aquatic environments. Various aquatic invertebrates, including Harpacticoida copepods, and a few terrestrial invertebrates, such as the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, possess n-3 LC-PUFA biosynthetic enzymes.

We previously reported that rituximab in combination with methylprednisolone pulse therapy (MPT) and immunosuppressants was associated with favorable outcomes. We determined risk factors for poor response following rituximab treatment, which remains unknown.

Longitudinal data on the clinical characteristics associated with clinical outcomes in polycystic kidney disease (PKD), including the development of ESKD and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are lacking in Japan. To address this unmet need the authors are establishing a novel, web-based, Nationwide Cohort Registry Study-the Japanese Registry of PKD (JRP).

Methods: This single-center, retrospective study analyzed data from pediatric patients who underwent chronic PD between March 2002 and June 2022.
Introduction: Unintended pregnancy is associated with national socioeconomic development and gender inequality. In addition to contraception, educational interventions that promote family planning and address gender dynamics are considered important in preventing unintended pregnancy. While the importance of encouraging men's participation in family planning has been advocated, most studies have focused on the application of interventions to women or populations in high-income countries only.

Relapse and resumption of immunosuppressants after discontinuation and associated risk factors were analyzed.
Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study included children with frequently relapsing/steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome (FRNS/SDNS) or steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) who initiated immunosuppressant treatment between 2010 and 2020.
Background: Nephrotic syndrome relapse within 6 months is a known risk factor for steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome/frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome (SDNS/FRNS), but the risk of early development of SDNS/FRNS and initiation of immunosuppression therapy remains unknown.
Methods: Patients with childhood-onset idiopathic nephrotic syndrome who had the first relapse within 6 months were enrolled. We analyzed the relationship between the time of the first relapse or the time of initial remission and incidence of SDNS/FRNS or initiation of immunosuppression therapy.
There are no clinical guidelines for performing nephrectomy in patients with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD). Few reports have described the clinical course of ARPKD diagnosed in the neonatal period in detail. Here, we report seven patients diagnosed with ARPKD and treated at our center during the neonatal period.

The objective of this study was to identify economic challenges experienced by individuals living with gMG and SDOH barriers to better address current unmet needs.
Methods: Adults (18-75 years) living with gMG and experiencing SDOH barriers in the United States were recruited to a mixed-methods study including qualitative interviews and a web-based quantitative survey.
n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs), including α-linolenic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), are essential nutrients for vertebrates including humans. Vertebrates are n-3 PUFA-auxotrophic; hence, dietary intake of n-3 PUFAs is required for their normal physiology and development. Although fish meal and oil have been utilized as primary sources of n-3 PUFAs by humans and aquaculture, these traditional n-3 PUFA sources are expected to be exhausted because of the increasing consumption requirements of humans.

However, tolvaptan therapy may pose an economic burden. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare supports patients with intractable diseases.

However, literature evaluating risk factors for leakage in detail and the appropriate break-in period to avoid leakage in pediatric patients is scarce.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on children aged < 20 years who underwent Tenckhoff catheter placement between April 1, 2002, and December 31, 2021, at our institution.
Introduction: Social determinants of health (SDOH) are important contributors to health outcomes, and better understanding their impact on individuals diagnosed with rare, chronic diseases with high burden and unmet need is critical. Characterizing SDOH burden can help improve the design of patient support programs (PSPs), using targeted approaches to remove barriers to access.
Methods: This study used a mixed-methods strategy employing a quantitative survey, which was designed based on qualitative interviews, to understand the unmet needs and awareness/utilization of PSPs among individuals living with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and experiencing SDOH barriers.
Background: Patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) may develop PD-related complications that necessitate abdominal surgery. However, when to resume PD and how to prescribe PD fluid after surgery in pediatric patients are unknown.
Methods: Patients on PD who underwent small-incision abdominal surgery between May 2006 and October 2021 were included in this retrospective observational study.
Background: Rituximab is a promising option for refractory idiopathic nephrotic syndrome. However, no simple predictive markers for relapse after rituximab have been established. To determine such markers, we investigated the relationship between CD4 + and CD8 + cell counts and relapse after rituximab administration.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAutosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common hereditary cystic kidney disease, with patients often having a positive family history that is characterized by a similar phenotype. However, in atypical cases, particularly those in which family history is unclear, a differential diagnosis between ADPKD and other cystic kidney diseases is important. When diagnosing ADPKD, cystic kidney diseases that can easily be excluded using clinical information include: multiple simple renal cysts, acquired cystic kidney disease (ACKD), multilocular renal cyst/multilocular cystic nephroma/polycystic nephroma, multicystic kidney/multicystic dysplastic kidney (MCDK), and unilateral renal cystic disease (URCD).

Methods: Patients with gMG who initiated IVIg treatment were identified from a United States claims database (Symphony Health's Integrated Dataverse [IDV]®, January 1, 2014 - December 31, 2019). The frequency of subsequent IVIg treatment and associated cost during the year post-IVIg initiation were analyzed.
