Aberrant methylation of CpG islands in promoter regions is associated with inactivation of various tumor suppressor genes. O6-methyguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) is a DNA repair enzyme that removes mutagenic and cytotoxic adducts from O6-guanine in DNA.

Method: One hundred and fifty-five consecutive adult patients awaiting liver transplantation completed the Persian version of CLDQ and the short-form health survey (SF-36). The etiology of cirrhosis, Child Pugh classification and Model for End stage Liver Disease (MELD) scores were taken from medical records.
Objective: To describe the cytologic findings of gastric xanthomas and to compare them with the findings of signet-ring adenocarcinoma because atypical xanthoma cells can be easily confused with signet-ring adenocarcinoma cells.
Study Design: Five cases of gastric xanthoma that were confirmed by biopsy reports were selected for study. The patients' ages ranged between 50 and 58 years; 4 were men and 1 was a woman.
