Background: Sudden infant death syndrome is the third leading cause of infant death in the first year of life and is one of the most important health problems around the world. The exact etiology of this phenomenon is not clear yet, but some risk factors, especially prone sleep positions, have been described. Fortunately, by modifying some environmental factors, the SIDS incidence might be decreased.
