Correlation between angiogenic/inflammatory mediators in Wister rat model of liver dysplasia.

Angiogenesis plays a critical role in tumor development and progression. It is regulated through the elaboration of many inflammatory/angiogenic mediators. In this study, we followed angiogenesis in hepatocarcinogenesis process from cancer initiation to sever dysplasia by measuring several inflammatory/angiogenic mediators.

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is an important cytokine in generating an immune response against infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV). The functions of TNF-α may be altered by single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in its gene structure. We hypothesized that SNPs in TNF-α may be important in determining the outcome of an HCV infection.

Short report: prevalence of Neospora caninum and Toxoplasma gondii antibodies in northern Egypt.

In view of the worldwide importance of Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum and the limited data on the seroprevalence of these parasites in Egypt, this study aimed to estimate the prevalence of anti-T. gondii and anti-N. caninum antibodies in rabbits, cattle, and humans.
