There are many problems related to the use of machine learning and machine vision technology on a commercial scale for cutting sugarcane seeds. These obstacles are related to complex systems and the way the farmers operate them, the possibility of damage to the buds during the cleaning process, and the high cost of such technology. In order to address these issues, a set of RGB color sensors was used to develop an automated sugarcane seed cutting machine (ASSCM) capable of identifying the buds that had been manually marked with a unique color and then cutting them mechanically, and the sugarcane seed exit chute was provided with a sugarcane seed monitoring unit.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how a tracking indirect solar dryer (SD) powered by photovoltaic cells affected the drying kinetics (DK) and thermo-environmental conditions of tomato slices. In this current investigation, three air speeds (1, 1.5, and 2 m/s) are used, as well as three slice thicknesses (ST) (4, 6, and 8 mm) and two SD, one of which is integrated with fixed collector motion (FCM) and another with SD tracking collector motion (TCM).

Article Synopsis
  • The study addresses the challenge of variable solar radiation affecting the efficiency of solar dryers, especially for sensitive crops like basil leaves during winter.
  • A hybrid solar dryer (HSD) combining solar energy and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) was developed, featuring an automatic air circulation system to enhance drying efficiency and accommodate varying weather conditions.
  • Testing indicated that drying basil leaves at 60°C with a 90% air change rate significantly reduced drying time by up to 35.71% in summer and 35.56% in winter, while also improving energy consumption and product quality.

Diesel engines (DEs) commonly power pumps used in agricultural and grassland irrigation. However, relying on unpredictable and costly fuel sources for DEs pose's challenges related to availability, reliability, maintenance, and lifespan. Addressing these environmental concerns, this study introduces an emulation approach for photovoltaic (PV) water pumping (WP) systems.

Atomic motion in nanopillars standing on the surface of a silicon membrane generates vibrons, which are wavenumber-independent phonons that act as local resonances. These vibrons couple with the vast majority of the phonon population, including heat-carrying phonons, traveling along the base membrane causing a reduction in the in-plane lattice thermal conductivity. In this work, we examine isolated silicon and gallium nitride nanopillars and for each compare the vibrons density of states (DOS) to those of phonons in an isolated version of the silicon membrane.

Background: β-thalassemia major is microcytic hypochromic anemia disorder inherited from parents, resulting from a mutation in the β-globin locus. As a result, a quantitative defective hemoglobin synthesis and relative excess in α-globin is occurred. As such, frequent blood transfusion is required, that leads to iron overload.

Polymeric bio-composites synthesized a green approach using natural herbs have fascinating anticoagulant activity due to their eco-friendly and non-toxic behavior towards various physical and chemical actions. Herein, we introduce a simple and eco-friendly approach for the fabrication of a new hybrid type of bio-composite based on sulfated carboxymethyl cellulose (S-CMC) and leaf powder (S-CMC/NLP). First, a non-toxic sulfating agent called N(SONa) was used to modify carboxymethyl cellulose into S-CMC.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a fatal neurological disorder that causes cognitive and memory function to deteriorate. A critical pathogenic event that speeds up the development of AD is the interaction between dysfunctional microglia and amyloid-β (Aβ). We have developed a hybrid nanocomposite material to treat AD by normalizing the dysfunctional microglia.

BACKGROUND Ethanol intoxication is very common, and several forms of alcohol intoxication can lead to emergency department visits. Excessive alcohol users, when in withdrawal, might seek replacement alcoholic beverages; one of the common sources of ethanol is hand sanitizer, which contains 45-95% alcohol. It becomes even more challenging to deal with alcohol use disorder patients when they seek these replacement products inside hospital premises, and medical clinics and hospitals have increased their use of ethanol-based hand sanitizer since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The C3-symmetry ionic polymer PPyTri has been designed with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) or graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and studied as an ultrasensitive electrochemical sensor for trace Hg(II) detection. The synthesis approach incorporated attaching three pyridinium cationic components with chloride anions to the triazine core. The precursors, BPy, were synthesized using a condensation process involving 4-pyridine carboxaldehyde and focused nicotinic hydrazide.

A poly(luminol--anisidine--toluidine) terpolymer was synthesized, characterized, and modified with GNPs and ZnO NPs. The nanocomposites were then examined for their electroactivity and potential use as cationic electrochemical sensors for detecting Sb ions in phosphate buffer on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Among the different compositions and the terpolymer, the GCE adapted with the PLAT/ZnO/GNPs-5% nanocomposite displayed the highest current response.

A new class of biologically active polyazomethine/pyrazole and their related nanocomposites, polyazomethine/pyrazole/zinc oxide nanoparticles, have been successfully synthesized through the polycondensation technique in the form of polyazomethine pyrazole (PAZm/Py) and polyazomethine/pyrazole/zinc oxide nanoparticles (PAZm/Py/ZnO). The polymeric nanocomposites were prepared with a 5% loading of zinc oxide nanofiller using the same preparation technique, in addition to the help of ultrasonic radiation. The characteristics of the new polymers, such as solubility, viscometry, and molecular weight, were examined.

  • Follicular Mycosis Fungoides (F-MF) is a rare variant of Mycosis Fungoides (MF), which is a type of skin lymphoma and should be considered when diagnosing hair loss.
  • Accurate diagnosis of F-MF relies on a detailed medical history, physical exams, and a combination of immunohistological and molecular analyses.
  • A case study of a 52-year-old man with recurrent scalp lesions demonstrated typical symptoms and histological features that led to a diagnosis of F-MF, highlighting the complexity of identifying this condition.

Natural soil minerals often contain numerous impurities, resulting in comparatively lower catalytic activity. Tropical soils are viewed as poor from soil organic matter, cations, and anions, which are considered the main impurities in the soil that are restricted to utilizing natural minerals as a catalyst. In this regard, the dissolved iron and hematite crystals that presented naturally in tropical soil were evaluated to activate oxidants and degrade pyrene.

Hydrophobic alginic acid derivatives were synthesized with various aliphatic hydrocarbon chains for fat removal in an analysis of multi-pesticide residues in a fatty food sample. First, alginic acid was chemically modified using eco-friendly ultrasound-assisted esterification with different alcohols, namely, hydrophobic alginic acid-methanol (HAA-C1), hydrophobic alginic acid-butanol (HAA-C4), and hydrophobic alginic acid-octadecanol (HAA-C18). The degree of esterification (DE) was determined by titration, and the results ranged from 57.

Background: Mycetoma is a chronic disease affecting the skin and subcutaneous tissue endemic in the tropical and subtropical regions. Several bacteria and fungi can cause mycetoma, but fungal mycetoma (eumycetoma) is challenging because the treatment requires a combination of a long-term antifungal agent and surgery. Although the transmission route has not yet been elucidated, infection from the soil is a leading hypothesis.

Hydrophobic carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) biopolymers were fabricated for the removal of fat from food sample matrices. The hydrophobic CMCs were synthesised the esterification of CMC with three alcohols with carbon chains of different lengths, methanol, butanol, and octadecanol, in the presence of sulfuric acid. The structure of the three synthesised hydrophobic CMCs was verified using FT-IR, and the physicochemical properties were investigated by TGA, SEM, and X-ray.
