Tranexamic Acid in Pregnant Women With Placenta Previa: A Double-Blind, Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial.

Aims: To determine the effectiveness of tranexamic acid (TXA) in reducing vaginal bleeding, extending pregnancy duration, and enhancing perinatal outcomes in pregnant women with placenta previa.

Methods: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind clinical trial was conducted at three maternity teaching hospitals in Iraq's Kurdistan region, Azadi Hospital in the north of Iraq, and Al-Azhar University Hospital in Egypt on 146 women with placenta previa. Participants were randomly assigned to two interventional groups in a 1:1 ratio to receive either TXA or Dextrose 5% water (D5W).

Comparative analysis of hydrazinyl coumarin derivative incorporation in resin-modified and conventional glass ionomer cement.

Objective: The study aimed to conduct a comparative analysis of the effects of incorporating hydrazinyl coumarin derivative (HCD) in resin-modified (RMGIC) and conventional glass ionomer cement (cGIC) on their release profiles and antibacterial properties.

Method: Resin-modified GIC, Fuji II LC (F2) and high-fluoride cGIC, Fuji VII (F7) were used as controls. HCD was synthesized in-house, incorporated into both RMGIC and cGICs at 1 % and 2 % weight percentages (w/w), and chemically analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.

In Situ Forming Injectable Gelatin-Based Antibacterial Bioadhesives for Preventing Postoperative Leakage and Abdominal Adhesions.

Postoperative anastomotic leakage (AL) and abdominal adhesions are two major complications after intestinal surgery, with an incidence of 2-25% for AL and 93% for adhesion. Until now, there is no method addressing AL and abdominal adhesions simultaneously. In this work, Bi-PEG-succinimidyl succinate (PEG-NHS), amino-gelatin (Agel) is combined with cefoperazone-sulbactam (SCF) to prepare a multifunctional bioadhesive (SCF/SEAgel) for the postoperative leakage and adhesion prevention.

Cadmium (Cd) detoxification and activation of plant defense enzymes in wheat (Triticum aestivum) through the use of endophytic Bacillus thuringiensis and Salix alba root powder.

Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic heavy metal and a threat to the ecosystem therefore the current investigation was designed to use endophytic bacteria from the Salix alba roots and to investigate its plant growth promoting and Cd detoxification ability with and without Salix alba root powder. In a complete randomized design (CRD), the cadmium sulfate was applied at the rate of 20 mg/kg and 40 mg/kg soil. The Bacillus thuringiensis (Accession # MW979616) was identified from Salix alba roots.

Lomax tangent generalized family of distributions: Characteristics, simulations, and applications on hydrological-strength data.

This article proposes and discusses a novel approach for generating trigonometric G-families using hybrid generalizers of distributions. The proposed generalizer is constructed by utilizing the tangent trigonometric function and distribution function of base model . The newly proposed family of uni-variate continuous distributions is named the "Lomax Tangent Generalized Family of Distributions (LT-G)" and structural-mathematical-statistical properties are derived.

Cadmium (Cd) contamination in agricultural soil is a major global concern among the multitude of human health and food security. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) have been known to combat heavy metal toxicity in crops. Herein, the study intended to explore the interactive effect of treatments mediated by inoculation of PGPR and foliar applied ZnO-NPs to alleviate Cd induced phytotoxicity in wheat plants which is rarely investigated.

Management of pediatric patients admitted for colonic disimpaction: A scoping review protocol.

Objectives: Chronic constipation is a common condition in pediatric patients worldwide and is associated with decreased quality of life. Inpatient management of constipation is required when outpatient therapy fails and a child becomes obstipated, and unable to pass stool or gas. There is a growing body of evidence regarding different management strategies for pediatric obstipation.

Cisplatin-induced bone marrow failure in an adult patient with Fanconi anemia.

Introduction: Fanconi anemia (FA) is a genetic disorder characterized by bone marrow failure typically developing in the first decade of life, congenital abnormalities, and an increased predisposition to malignancy. However, patients with FA can remain undiagnosed until adulthood and present with solid organ malignancies. Due to impaired DNA repair mechanisms, patients with FA are highly susceptible to severe bone marrow toxicity when treated with cisplatin.

This study aims to design and optimize ondansetron (OND) gastro-retentive floating minitablets for better and prolonged control of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) with improved patient compliance. Minitablets were directly compressed and encapsulated in a size 2 capsule shell with an overall dose of 24 mg. Central composite design (CCD) was applied keeping one cellulose ether derivative HPMC K15M and Carbopol 971 as variable and used as swelling and rate retarding agents.

Safety of COVID-19 Vaccine in Patients with Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases.

Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of COVID-19 vaccine side effects in patients with rheumatic diseases and to examine any potential associations with medications, disease type, or comorbidities.

Methods: A multicentre cross-sectional study from rheumatology units in different hospitals in Iraq was carried out between 8 of August 2021 and 4th of August 2022. Patients were eligible for inclusion if they have a rheumatic disease and have taken one or more doses of any COVID-19 vaccine.

Awareness and Incorporation of the Dental Home Concept Among General Dentists and Dental Therapists in Malaysia.

Background The dental home concept (DHC) refers to an approach in oral healthcare that emphasizes establishing a long-term, comprehensive, and family-centered relationship between a patient and their primary dental care. This study determined the awareness and incorporation of the DHC among general dentists and dental therapists in Malaysia. Methodology A total of 154 general dentists and 137 dental therapists providing oral healthcare services at the Ministry of Health (MOH) primary care facilities throughout Malaysia participated in this cross-sectional study.

Rest-activity rhythm disruption and metabolic health in schizophrenia: a cross-sectional actigraphy study of community-dwelling people living with schizophrenia and nonpsychiatric comparison participants.

Study Objectives: People living with schizophrenia (PLWS) have increased physical comorbidities and premature mortality which may be linked to dysregulated rest-activity rhythms (RARs). This study aimed to compare RARs between PLWS and nonpsychiatric comparison participants (NCs) and to examine the relationships of RARs with age, sleep, metabolic, and physical health outcomes and, among PLWS, relationships of RARs with illness-related factors.

Methods: The study sample included 26 PLWS and 36 NCs, assessed with wrist-worn actigraphy to compute RAR variables and general sleep variables.

Foreign outsourcing collaboration within a developing economy's perspective: A case of the Pakistani textile industry.

This paper develops an outsourcing collaboration model from a firm's perspective operating in a developing economy. The model considers that producers of the final goods residing in a developed country, and operators of manufacturing plants in a developing country collaborate with each other. The final goods producer supplies headquarter services for the production of intermediate goods in the developing country.

Representation of women in neuropsychology research prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective: Prior work has demonstrated that women have been historically underrepresented across various research fields, including neuropsychology. Given these disparities, the goal of this study was to systematically evaluate the inclusion of women as participants in neuropsychology research. The current study builds upon previous research by examining articles from eight peer-reviewed neuropsychology journals published in 2019.

Performance evaluation and optimization of a suspension-type reactor for use in heterogeneous catalytic ozonation.

Packed fixed-bed reactors are traditionally used for heterogeneous catalytic ozonation. However, a high solid-to-liquid requirement, poor ozone dissolution, ineffective utilization of catalyst surface area, and production of large amounts of catalyst waste impede application of such reactors. In this study, we designed a suspension catalytic ozonation reactor and compared the performance of this reactor with that of a traditional fixed-bed catalytic ozonation reactor employing oxalic acid (OA) as the target contaminant.

One of such therapies comprises of Hordeum vulgare, Elettaria cardamomum and Cicer arietinum that have shown encouraging therapeutic potential in the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Therefore, poly-herbal granules (PHGs) of this formula were developed and investigated for their anti-diabetic and anti-obesity potential in obese-diabetic rats.

Background: Zinc (Zn) and nickel (Ni) are nutrients that are crucial for plant growth; however, when they are present at higher concentrations, they can cause toxicity in plants. The present study aimed to isolate plant growth promoting endophytic bacteria from Viburnum grandiflorum and assess its plant and defense promoting potential alone and in combination with RP in zinc (Zn) and nickel (Ni) toxic soil. The isolated endophytic bacteria were identified using 16s rRNA gene sequencing.

Optimal levels of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) applied at the stem base promote adventitious root (AR) initiation and primordia formation, thus promoting the rooting of leafy micro-cuttings of tetraploid Robinia pseudoacacia. Tetraploid Robinia pseudoacacia L. is a widely cultivated tree in most regions of China that has a hard-rooting capability, propagated by stem cuttings.

Red-light operable photosensitizer with symmetry-breaking charge transfer induced intersystem crossing for polymerization of methyl methacrylate.

We present a red light-activated zinc bis(dipyrrin) symmetry breaking charge transfer (SBCT) architecture, showing a large molar absorption coefficient ( = 15.4 × 10 M cm), high reactive singlet oxygen generation efficiency ( ≈ 0.8) and long-lived triplet state ( = 150 μs) compared to the donor-acceptor analogue dipyrrin-BF complex, highlighting the superiority of the SBCT approach.

Knowledge and attitude towards children's oral health: findings from a sample of first-time mothers in Malaysia.

Introduction: Women's important roles within families which include modelling appropriate oral health behaviours require them to have good knowledge and positive attitude in oral health. This study determined knowledge and attitude towards children's oral health among first-time mothers and factors associated with the attributes.

Materials And Methods: A total of 154 first-time mothers in the third trimester of pregnancy who attended two health clinics in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia for antenatal care participated in this cross-sectional study.
