The Importance of Evaluating Serum Levels of Tumor Markers M2-PK and Inhibin A in Patients Undergoing Colonoscopy.

Despite the use of colonoscopy to detect colon cancer due to its aggressiveness, high cost, and lack of patient compliance, the use of laboratory tests with high accuracy and sensitivity, such as tumor marker M2-PK and Inhibin A is recommended and can be effective for early diagnosis and screening of patients in the early stages. We studied 46 patients admitted it the gastrointestinal ward of Amir al Momenin Hospital and 45 normal (age and sex-matched) subjects as a control group (case-control and retrospective studies). Before the colonoscopy, the level of tumor marker M2-PK in the stool sample and the serum level of Inhibin A were evaluated in patients and the control group.

Background: Numerous studies have probed the deregulation of the long noncoding RNA AB073614 and FER1L4, which have been discovered in a variety of cancers. However, the precise expression pattern of these lncRNAs and their clinical implications in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remain elusive. Considering the involvement of the PI3K axis in AML pathogenesis, an investigation into the expression of AB073614 and FER1L4 targets of this pathway has been proposed, aiming to elucidate a potential mechanism underlying AML development.

Post-COVID-19 splenic infarction in a patient with chronic atrial fibrillation: A case report.

We describe splenic infarction (SI), an infrequent condition, in an 82-year-old COVID-19 patient with chronic atrial fibrillation (AF). COVID-19 may cause thrombosis, and AF is a predisposing factor for splenic infarction. Suspicion of SI may be warranted in COVID-19 patients with abdominal pain, especially if a predisposing factor exists.

Background: Human brucellosis is widespread in Fars province. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of climate on its incidence and determine the areas prone to the infection.

Comparative effectiveness of hand and ultrasonic instrumentations in root surface planing in vitro.

Background/aims: A variety of techniques are employed for planing and scaling of the superficial root surfaces, of which hand and ultrasonic instrumentations have been preferentially used in routine periodontics clinics. This study was undertaken to compare the effectiveness of ultrasonic scalers and hand curettes in facilitating fibroblast attachment to the scaled root surfaces.
