Congenital facial nerve (FN) malformations are uncommon. Our aim is to determine the clinical and radiological features of FN malformations along with the associated cochlear and vestibular malformations. We conducted a retrospective study including children with a profound sensorineural hearing loss who were candidates for cochlear implantation.

Congenital crico-thyroid dysplasia: a comprehensive description.

Introduction: We describe a first case of human congenital crico-thyroid dysplasia associated to a right sided aortic arch and an aberrant subclavian artery.

Case Presentation: Our patient presented with a two-weeks history of acute dyspnea, and reported hoarseness since his childhood. An urgent tracheotomy was performed, followed by direct laryngoscopy.

Intramedullary spinal cord metastasis from breast cancer: an ambiguous entity.

Intramedullary spinal cord metastasis (IMSC) from solid tumors is rare. In this report, we describe the case of a patient treated at our center for breast cancer with intramedullary spinal cord metastases without bone and brain metastases or meningitis. Management of the disease remains challenging even with recent advances in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

Traumatic uterine rupture: A rare complication of vehicle accidents.

The rupture of the gravid uterus is a rare complication of trauma. It is reported in less than one percent of pregnant women who are victims of road accidents. The authors report the case of a 26-year-old nulliparous patient presented with a uterine rupture resulting in fetal death at 32 weeks of gestation following a nonpenetrating abdominal trauma in a road traffic accident.

Sinonasal Burkitt Lymphoma in a 2-Year-Old Child: An Uncommon Case Report.

Burkitt Lymphoma (BL) is a highly aggressive B-type non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It rarely develops at the level of the sinonasal cavities, especially in young children. We present the case of a 2-year-old boy who presented with a 2-month history of nasal obstruction, snoring, and epistaxis followed by a recent dyspnea.

An intramuscular hemangioma of the semispinalis muscle: A case report.

Intramuscular hemangiomas are uncommon benign endotheliomas that typically occur in the trunk and limbs. Head and neck involvement is relatively infrequent, with the masseter muscle being the most commonly affected site. We present a rare case of intramuscular hemangiomas arising from the semispinalis muscle.

Compressed Sensing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CS-MRI) could be considered a challenged task since it could be designed as an efficient technique for fast MRI acquisition which could be highly beneficial for several clinical routines. In fact, it could grant better scan quality by reducing motion artifacts amount as well as the contrast washout effect. It offers also the possibility to reduce the exploration cost and the patient's anxiety.

Novel splicing dysferlin mutation causing myopathy with intra-familial heterogeneity.

Dysferlinopathies belong to the heterogeneous group of autosomal recessive muscular disorders, caused by mutations in the dysferlin gene and characterized by a high degree of clinical variability even though within the same family. This study aims to describe three cases, belonging to a consanguineous Tunisian family, sharing a new splicing mutation in the dysferlin gene and presenting intra-familial variability of dysferlinopathies: Proximal-distal weakness and distal myopathy with anterior tibial onset. We performed the next generation sequencing for mutation screening and reverse transcriptase-PCR for gene expression analysis.

Denoising and contrast-enhancement approach of magnetic resonance imaging glioblastoma brain tumors.

We investigate a new preprocessing approach for MRI glioblastoma brain tumors. Based on combined denoising technique (bilateral filter) and contrast-enhancement technique (automatic contrast stretching based on image statistical information), the proposed approach offers competitive results while preserving the tumor region's edges and original image's brightness. In order to evaluate the proposed approach's performance, quantitative evaluation has been realized through the Multimodal Brain Tumor Segmentation (BraTS 2015) dataset.

Evidence of Direct Toxicological Effects of Scorpion Venom on Central Nervous System in Tunisian Children.

Background: Severe scorpion envenomation can lead to severe neurological manifestations, which are an indicator of the severity of the scorpion sting. The direct action of scorpion venom on the central nervous system can explain partly these neurological disorders.

Methods And Findings: We report a case of severe scorpion envenomation in 16-month-old boy with no pathological history admitted in ICU for severe scorpion envenomation.

[Role of magnetic resonance imaging in preoperative assessement of hilar cholangiocarcinoma].

Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography is a non-invasive imaging, highly performant in detecting and locating biliary stenosis and in predicting its malignancy. The combination of two and three-dimensional MRI sequences is recommended to assess a biliary obstacle. Cholangiopathies are the main differential diagnosis of cholangiocarcinomas.

Background: The aim of the present study is to analyze the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) following Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs). This paper dealt with an automatic biomedical aided tool involving volumetric segmentation of multiple sclerosis lesions. To meet this challenge, our proposed methodology requires one preliminary cerebral zones segmentation performed using a new Gaussian mixture model based on various databases atlases.

[Endovascular repair of iliocaval arteriovenous fistula complicating lumbar disc surgery].

Vascular complications of lumbar disc surgery are rare. Few cases have been reported. Arteriovenous fistulas are the most common.
