Impact of a Health Governance Intervention on Provincial Health System Performance in Afghanistan: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

Poor governance contributes to poor health outcomes and may constrain a country's progress in attaining its health goals. Yet, governance is not commonly used as a lever to improve the health sector or health system performance. Lack of a clear body of evidence linking governance interventions to better health system performance is one likely reason.

A survey of the governance capacity of national public health associations to enhance population health.

Background: National public health associations (PHAs) are key partners with governments and communities to improve, protect and promote the public's health. Governance and organizational capacity are among the key determinants of a PHA's effectiveness as an advocate for appropriate public health policies and practice.

Methods: During 2014, the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) conducted an on-line survey of its 82 PHA members, to identify the state of organizational governance of national public health associations, as well as the factors that influence optimal organizational governance.

Implementing people-centred health systems governance in 3 provinces and 11 districts of Afghanistan: a case study.

Background: Previous studies show that health systems governance influences health system performance and health outcomes. However, there are few examples of how to implement and monitor good governing practices in fragile and conflict affected environments. Good governance has the potential to make the health system people-centered.

A phase III clinical trial of alpha, beta-arteether injection 150 mg/ml in patients of P falciparum malaria.

The aim of study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of alpha, beta-arteether injection 150 mg/ml by performing a phase III, multicentre, open label, and single treatment study in patients with P falciparum malaria. A total of 145 patients with P falciparum malaria were screened to achieve patient pool of 101 subjects based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, from which 100 patients completed the study successfully. Mean cure rate was calculated as primary efficacy parameter, while mean parasite clearance time (hours) and mean fever clearance time (hours) were calculated as secondary efficacy parameters, to evaluate efficacy of alpha, beta-arteether injection 150 mg/ml.
