Severe heterotopic ossification and stiffness after revision knee surgery for a periprosthetic fracture.

Although heterotopic ossification (HO) after total hip arthroplasty has been very well described as a cause of disability, much less was written on clinical dysfunction of HO after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). To the extent of our knowledge, there has been no published case of complete bony ankylosis, secondary to severe generalized HO, after a TKA. We present the case of a 67-year-old female treated successfully, with surgical excision of ossification and TKA revision surgery, using a rotating hinge system.

Drill wobble - effect on femoral tunnel aperture during anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Background: In anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction performed using cortical button fixation on the femur, we have observed a "wobble" effect that can occur when a cannulated femoral drill is used over a guide pin that is not securely fixed in bone. Our study assessed the effect of drill "wobble" on femoral tunnel aperture in sawbones.

Methods: Femoral tunnels were drilled in sawbones, which had been divided in two groups of 10 each, per drilling technique.

Forearm soft tissue sarcoma: tumors characteristics and oncologic outcomes following limb salvage surgery.

Background: Complex anatomy of the forearm may impact on local control and survivals of soft tissue sarcoma. Little is known about characteristics and oncologic outcomes following surgical treatment.

Methods: Demographic and tumor data of 117 patients with forearm soft tissue sarcoma were collected and analyzed.
